Help Us Snapshot the Moments that Will Soon be Gone Forever!
Funded Jan 23, 2011Thank you so much for funding my proposal. With a bit of delay, we have gotten our camera and have been using it in a variety of ways in our classroom. My students are so excited about having a camera in our class and about the fact that they have been using it in school.
My goal this is to make a digital yearbook this year and make give it to every child so that they have a memory of their last year in elementary school. As you can see in the pictures I have uploaded, they have been using the camera during their physical education class along with their recess and lunch times to take pictures of their classmates doing what they love to do, play. I also have used the camera to take pictures of the students doing their own work in the classroom and how they are collaborating on group assignments. As one of their assignments throughout the year I will be asking the students to make a picture collage of a day in their life using the camera. This will be a fun assignment that will allow the students to compare their lives to their peers and use the photos to do a writing assignment. The photos will make the assignment a lot more special and memorable.
I want to thank you once again for your great impact on educations. It's because of people like you that help teachers like me make a stronger impact on our future generation. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and assistance.”

This classroom project was brought to life by American Express Members Project and 4 other donors."Teacher, Can I Print?"
Funded Apr 23, 2010I can't thank you enough for the ink you have provided for my class printers. This school year my students go to print their own research papers on the computer, do their planet reports and print out websites that they used as resources. They loved every second of computer time they had!
Beyond all of that, I was able to print out documents that I had created to support the current unit of study for my fourth and fifth graders. I have also made some posters that have helped my students with writing in the classroom. It has been very easy for me to print last minute things that were unplanned for. It has made my life much easier and made using the computer more meaningful for my students.
My students for the 2010-2011 school year will also be thankful for your donations! The ink I have will last for another school year. Thanks again for all your help! It's people like you who make a difference in this world.”

Funded Feb 25, 2010I can't thank you enough for donating to my project. You have made my job much easier and a lot more enjoyable. Technology in a persons life makes everything seem very simple. I don't have to worry about doing my work on one computer, printing from another and going back and forth.
With the laptop I have done many things for my class. I have created parent letters, bulletin boards for the units we are currently studying, allowed students to compete in educational games inside our classroom, PowerPoint presentations and instant research inside the classroom with the ELMO projector. These are only a few of the things I have done and will continue to do. It is very nice to have a laptop for my work purpose only and use it as I please.
If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have the resources I need in order to make my teachings more meaningful. It has worked wonders for my classroom this school year and will continue to in the future. Thanks again!”

Funded Jan 5, 2010Thank you so much for the books! You can't imagine how much my students enjoyed reading them. It was a big hit and they learned so much from it.
As we were reading this book at school and at home, the kids couldn't stop talking about it. They were constantly making a connection with the book and thinking about similar situations that they have witnessed in their lives. The story was more meaningful when they found out it was based on a true story. Throughout reading the text, I had assigned short lessons to be completed as homework which I got from the teachers guide you had also purchased for me. It was an awesome resource; it cut my job in half. And as a culminating activity, the children had to create something which was related to the story. These varied from drawings to diagrams to even plays, if was up to the child to chose what they wanted to do. You can see the pictures of some of the final products that I posted on the site. One of my students even made a book with a hundred possible dresses that could have been part of the story. Another group of kids did a reenactment from one of the chapters, they actually came in dressed as the characters and did their performance in front of the rest of the class. Its these type of assignments that make it much more meaningful for the kids. Thank you so much for that!
I will definitely do this again with my class next year. Thank you for helping me make education more meaningful and fun! It's people like you who help make the difference in a child's life. Thank you! ”
