My project will help students have an inviting classroom they are eager to come to every morning. Donations to this project will give my students have a classroom they can call 'home', they will also have a book rich environment.
Kindergarten is the first 'real' school these children will attend, I need my students to hit the ground running in reading, writing, and comprehension skills. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-- I want my students to have books in both English and Spanish and in every genre. All of these books will go into the classroom library and even used to be taken home to read. I really want to push phonetics and learning how to read this year, the puzzles will help accomplish this goal by allowing my students to study letter sound/name identification.
Some of the other puzzles will help continue to work with letter sound identification to help students learn consonant vowel consonant words such as cat, dog, bed, etc.
I have also included items for flexible seating. Flexible seating allows my students to get their wiggles out while still having focus to learn.
In this list, I also have supplies needed in the room. Due to the majority of students coming from a financially disadvantaged home, they may not come to school fully prepared. I even included multicultural crayons because we need a diverse classroom. The pictures we create need to have characters that look like each student in my class.
These resources will aide me to provide the best education possible in my classroom.
