  • Young Hoosier Award Books Needed

    Funded Feb 14, 2011

Thank you very much for your donation of Young Hoosier Award nominated books. These are 20 titles that we feature each year in a special display in our media center. They are books chosen by the Indiana Library Federation.

Each year we have a special Subway lunch to reward students who have read at least 5 of these books. During the lunch we discuss our favorite books and the students vote on their favorite book from this group. Votes are tallied from all over Indiana and a special award is given to the author of the favorite book.

Because of your generosity the Young Hoosier Books will again be available for our students to read. Thank you very much for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bannon

  • We Need More Sharon Draper Books

    Funded Feb 14, 2011

Students have already started checking out the Sharon Draper books that we received because of your generous donations. Sharon Draper is one of their favorite authors. We were able to replace some of the worn out copies.

There are two series of books and several students have started reading both series. The author writes about the lives of students that are very similar to our students. That is why these books are so popular.

Students are reading these books and meeting their classroom reading goals. Thank you so much for your donations to improve the reading skills of our students.”

The students at our school were very excited to receive the books that your donations provided for the Media Center. They send a big thank you for your generous donations. The books will help the students to meet their classroom reading goals and improve their reading skills.

It is always encouraging to know that there are people who are interested in the education of our young people. Students need the best resources that we can provide and your gifts helped us to provide these resources. The students also appreciate your commitment to providing new books. Funded Dec 21, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to the project for our Media Center that has provided great books for our students to read. Our school is located in a high poverty area and with the cut backs in support to education we often do not have the necessary materials for our Media Center.

Literacy is a high priority in our school and we want to help the students increase their reading skills. Your gifts will help our students meet their reading goals for their classroom and provide good literature that they will enjoy.”

  • Guys Read

    Funded Dec 20, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donations to DonorsChoose. This project provided several books that the students have already begun to check out and enjoy reading. I was able to complete several of the series that boys enjoy reading. It is critical to have the books available that interest boys at this age. Literacy is a high priority at our school. We want to improve the reading skills of all our students. Having good books available is the key to accomplishing this goal.

Thank you again for your contributions.”

    Funded Nov 16, 2010

Thank you very much for your donations to purchase books to complete some of the Series Books that we needed in our Media Center. The students are already excited about checking out these books.

Often students are frustrated when they start a series and cannot continue reading either because there aren't enough books or we just don't have the complete set. Your donations have already helped students to continue reading books they really like. Thank you so much! Reading and literacy are high priorities at our school. Funded Nov 17, 2010

On behalf of our students I want to express my sincere thanks for your donations to our project - American Revolution Up Close and Personal. The new biographies and books on events of the American Revolution that were purchased helped our students complete their research project.

The students also appreciated the supplies of folders and note cards. Our school is in a high poverty area and our families do not always have the funds to purchase the needed supplies. Your donation enabled the students to have the necessary research materials to accomplish their assignment.”
