Holding Up Our End
Funded Dec 7, 2015Thank you for your generous support to this project. Without help from you, items like the ones in this request would be out of reach for many if not all of our students. A trombone Harmon mute for jazz band is not needed all that often, but when it is called for, it is imperative to have the correct piece of equipment on hand. Now we have one and with proper care and use, it could last 50 years. The saxophone harness is the latest technology and is spoken of very highly by all of the local college professors. Now we have one for our students to try - if they like it, they can buy their own with an informed opinion.
Again, thank you for your willingness to help us achieve our goals - both big and small!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Phillips
Don't Play the Saxophone, Let it Play You
Funded Oct 19, 2015Thank you so much for your generous support of our music program. Acquiring new instruments like this saxophone is a much needed shot in the arm for our students. When they see that the community-at-large appreciates what they do and are will to give of their hard-earned money, they are more likely to continue in the program. Beyond that, generosity is infectious - hopefully we can instill in them a sense of pride about giving back. Your example is a great one to follow. I am truly humbled by the overwhelming speed with which this grant was fully funded - I have been submitting grants for years now, and I think this is the quickest success story I've experienced.
Thanks again and I hope our paths continue to cross in the future!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Phillips
Stick, Stands, Strings - time to Upgrade!
Funded Apr 27, 2015On behalf of the students in our program, I would like to thank you for your generous support of our music department. Our students were extremely excited when all the boxes started showing up - it is like Christmas every day (lots of boxes!)!!! Knowing that we have the resources available when we need them is a huge relief to me, and your willingness to provide those items means a lot. We now have enough drumsticks to last for quite a few years and our string players no longer have to worry about having a decent bow available. My trumpet players now have a safe place to store their instruments during rehearsal (other than the floor), and my jazz band brass players will be able to use the proper mutes for traditional big band music. Again, thank you for your help with this project!”

Mr. Phillips
Support The Strings!
Funded Sep 10, 2014On behalf of the students in our program, I would like to thank you for your generous donation. We are starting to acquire many of the necessities that make a music program like our work properly and your recent help has been a wonderful aid in getting us there. Instrument cases and stools may not seem like an exciting thing for a music department, I can assure you that the students who are directly affected by this are extremely appreciative. When we do travel with cellos and basses I now know that they will be safe and I can worry about more important things. Having a variety of stool heights will allow students of differing sizes to use an appropriate tool to help them do their job. Thanks again!”

Mr. Phillips

Funded Oct 30, 2013Thank you for donating to this project. We were able to purchase three brand new violins and three new carbon fiber bows. This will give our students the opportunity to use a nicer instrument than the one they started on in fifth grade. Many of our students come to the high school using an instrument they have been playing on since they started. For them to be able to try an upgrade, even on a temporary basis, is a wonderful thing. Thanks again for your willingness to support the arts in the public schools.”

Funded Feb 18, 2013On behalf of the students in our band and orchestra program, I would like to thank you for your generous support of this project. The solo and ensemble library has been in shambles for years and I have never had the resources to clean it up. Now it is all neat and tidy, organized clearly by instrument and ensemble and easy to use. Students can walk into the room and quickly identify the category of music they are looking for - something that was not possible with our previous storage method. Hopefully I will be able to encourage students to begin using this amazing resource more often to increase their chamber music and solo skills.
Again, thank you for your continued support of music in the public schools.”

Basic Bling
Funded Mar 31, 2011On behalf of the instrumental music students of our school, I would like to thank you for your generous support of our program. Your willingness to take the time to give of yourself to the students in our program is greatly appreciated. It is heartwarming to know that people from all over the country and all walks of life understand and agree to support budding musicians. This project will help my current and future percussion students learn how to use and care for professional quality musical instruments.
Thanks again and I hope you are able to come hear some of our performances!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Phillips
DVD ROM Drive
Funded Nov 17, 2010Thank you for your generous donation to our music program! This project will be a great help to me as I am getting used to using a laptop computer instead of a desktop. Our school recently went to all laptops and they did not come with CD or DVD ROM drives. I use iTunes on a daily basis and need access to a drive. This is a big deal, since now I do not have to go borrow one from a colleague or check one out from the tech repair folks. I certainly appreciate your willingness to help our music program stay on the cutting edge of technology!”

Mr. Phillips
Time To Load The Basses
Funded Sep 22, 2010Thank you so much for your generous donation to our music department! As you know, with shrinking budgets, it is harder and harder to come up with funds to support what some deem extras in school. Well, if you are a string bass player, a bow is hardly an extra. Your donation has made it possible to purchase two carbon fiber string bass bows which will, with good maintenance, last for 30 plus years in a school. My students are trained to take very good care of their equipment and having high quality bows such as these only reinforces what I am telling them on a daily basis.
It makes me very happy to know that even though you may have no direct connection to our school that you are willing to give of your hard-earned money to help out the next generation of string players.
Thanks again!”

Funded Apr 22, 2010Thank you once again for your generous donation to the band and orchestra program at our school. The fifteen metronomes we were able to purchase will be used by countless students for many years. I often talk to the classes about the importance of keeping good time as a musician and these are the perfect tools to help them learn how to do just that.
It is great to know that there are people out there who simply want to help - people like you! I tell my students and their parents about this program and they are constantly amazed at the willingness of complete strangers to help their son/daughter achieve. You are truly an inspiration to me and my students.
Thanks again!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Phillips
