  • Music Literacy in the Choral Classroom

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

We are so excited to begin strategizing for the 2024-2025 school year. This year, our 6th grade students performed several wonderful concerts both for their fellow students and the larger school community.

With the help of your donation, we are planning for a year of even MORE music -- performances within our neighborhood (and perhaps, even a local or regional competition!)

Thank you for valuing the important work we do and for supporting the wonderful program we are rebuilding at our school. I believe so fiercely in the talent and potential of our students: each day, I am humbled by their curiosity, creativity and "hunger" for learning.

Working with these young artists is truly a blessing: thank you for providing them the tools we need to move forward in their continued musicianship and artistry.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Emery

  • Chorus in Color

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

With the new materials provided to our students, they are able to annotate, mark and put notes in their musical score! While sets of office supplies may seem like a very small thing, the ability for students to mark their music truly expedites their music reading and literacy skills -- For this group of tenacious novices, this scaffold has been extremely helpful in developing their ability to read and process music. Coupled with our recently completed project to purchase new method books, we are in gear to accomplish so much during our spring semester.”

  • And We’re Orff!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you for your donation of the classroom instruments to our Orff Program! During this years concert season, students were able to use barred percussion in combination with recorders and singing to create wonderful music on our Spring '23 concert! With the addition of these instruments, we now have a healthy inventory of over 30 barred percussion instruments as well as our Instrumentarium of non-pitched instruments and other classroom materials. As students further pursue their music education, they will continue to use these materials for years to come.”

  • Rock N’ Roll Dreams: Guitar Class

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations that allowed us to purchase these guitars! As we navigate back to five day in person learning, I am excited to spend the summer designing an all new guitar curriculum for our upper elementary students. When I told the students that we have received new guitars, they were elated -- guitar has been an area of study that students have long been asking for, and with your help, we are able to provide! Your donations have had a huge impact on the development of our music program, which was founded in 2019: As a new program, donations such as yours have really helped us to get our program started and get our students to realize the depth of their musical potential!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Emery

  • Be a Guitar Hero!

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations! As we slowly transition back to in-person classes, I am really excited to introduce guitar to my upper-grade students, whom have not had many live/synchronous music lessons this year! When I announced that the donation had come thru, there was certainly a buzz of excitement among our students, who (as I may have mentioned) really benefitted from some great, unexpected news! Moving forward, I really look forward to unpacking, tuning up and working with our amazing students on a topic they have long been interested in and have asked about!”

  • Orff Instruments for E. Elementary

    Funded Jan 11, 2020

We did it! Thank you so much for being a part of this great group of people coming together to support music education. Every day, our program is getting stronger and stronger, and these instruments will help reach so many students in a positive way. These instruments will be helpful to ALL of my students, providing us with new opportunities to explore new instruments. Additionally, using barred Orff instruments will allow me to differentiate instruction for students who may need greater support in playing harmonizing instruments. There is something really special about seeing a child explore an new instrument for the first time, and watching them make music, particularly for those students whom would otherwise not have access to these experience. My students will be overjoyed to try new instruments and to explore their creativity in a new way!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Emery
