PreK Needs Plenty of Paper
Funded Sep 12, 2013Thank you again for your generosity. All of the paper your donations provided has arrived in our classroom and we are putting it to good use.
Having copy paper in my room to make homework copies is great. My students receive at least two worksheets a night and I copy them daily on the paper you provided. I also love having brightly colored copy paper to write notes to my parents. They can't help but notice letters written on fluorescent pink paper. And the kids love the brightly colored chart paper. So far we have used these while learning about pumpkins.
I could not have provided these resources on my own. I can't express how much I appreciate your help.”

PreK Kids Learn About Different Cultures
Funded Jul 31, 2013I wanted to thank you again for supporting my pre-kindergarten classes project to provide a variety of toys to broaden my students knowledge of the multicultural society we live in here in New York City.
The students love all of the dolls, puzzles, costumes and posters you helped provide. Pre-kindergarten students learn through play and they are all playing with these items daily. The toys have helped encourage lots of conversations about different cultures. The costumes from different countries are the students favorite. Whenever they use a costume from a country they don't know they ask me about where its from. We couldn't have had these conversations without your generosity.”

Funded Sep 9, 2013I wanted to thank you again for your very generous donations. Recycling is not something many teachers do in my school and I am so happy to be doing it in mine,
We have really put the garbage bins to good use. Especially the large one during meal times. We eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom which creates a lot of garbage due to the Styrofoam trays our school systems still use. Before we had the garbage bin we would have to prop a bag on the easel for the entire day. And who wants to look at that. We are also using the blue bin to recycle all of the scraps of paper that are left over from our art projects and all of the excess paper I receive.
We have not had a chance to read the books this project has provided, but I look forward to do so in April for Earth Day.
Thank you again for thinking it is important to support Public School students and teachers. Your generosity will never be forgotten.”

Funded Jun 22, 2013Thank you again for your generosity. The items your donations purchased have helped organize our library and make our book in a bag homework go home safely. The best part of the project was the "Pete the Cat" book.
You can't imagine how happy you have made my students. We have been reading different Pete the Cat books over the last few years and they really love them. I didn't read "Pete the Cat Rocking My School Shoes" until today. After reading the book I gave each child their own copy and told them it is theirs to bring home and keep. They could not believe the books were really theirs. When they left at the end of the day the book was the first thing they told their parents about. With your generosity they now have a book they love in their personal library.
Its great having others supporting my students. Your the best!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Smirk
I Want to Hear it All
Funded Nov 13, 2013Thank you again for you generous donations to my pre-kindergarten class. The headphones and audio recorder your donations provided have been a wonderful addition to my class.
The headphones have helped make the iPad Center much quieter. Now the students working on the iPads can hear the instructions the apps. are giving to them and everyone else is no longer distracted by the music and sounds coming from the iPads.
I also have put the audio recorder to good use. Now when I talk to students about their work I no longer have to struggle to write everything they say when they say it. Now I can talk to the students as the recorder records everything. This way I can concentrate on the child and listen and write what they say later on.
I could not have these tools without your help. I am forever grateful.”

Lots of Supplies
Funded May 24, 2013Thank you again for supporting my pre-kindergarten classes project and for providing so many basic supplies for our class. I loved telling my students parents during orientation that they did not have to purchase all of these items. Our schools families are struggling to make ends meet and by freeing them of these purchases you may have helped them struggle a little less.
The pencils, markers, glue and all of the other supplies your donations provided are being used by my students on a daily basis when they are creating art or learning how to write. Doing everyday things like this would have been a lot harder without your help. We really appreciate your generosity.”

iPad Mini For Learning
Funded Oct 18, 2013I am writing to let you know the difference your donations have made to my students. The iPad mini your donations provided has been put to good use by students as soon as it arrived in my classroom.
We have two iPads in our room but the mini iPad had become a classroom favorite. Since it is smaller and lighter it is much easier for my three and four year old students to hold. We have plenty of literacy, math, science and social studies applications on the iPad mini so my students are able to practice what we are learning in class while becoming technology savvy. We would not be able to have such a wonderful resource in our room without your help. Thank you again for putting public school students on your priority list.”

Multicultural Dolls for Pre-K Learning
Funded May 24, 2013The dolls and doll clothes your donations provided have made to the dramatic play center one of my pre-kindergarten students favorite places to play.
Ever since I started teaching pre-kindergarten I have been on the look out for nice dolls for my students to play with, but most of the the dolls in the store are not same skin tone as my students and they are never as nice as the Caucasian dolls. Now I get to see my students pretending to be moms and dad to high quality dolls that look like them. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Nov 20, 2013Wow! How happy did you make my students? Take a look at the smiles in the pictures I published of them finding the "Pigeon" books in their holiday gift bags and you can get a bit of an idea, but not even half of it. They were giggling with joy when they saw them and they couldn't believe that strangers bought the books for them.
With your donations I was able to give each child in my class three of Moe Willems' "Pigeon" books as Christmas gifts. This character is a favorite of all of the kids and I know it will help encourage them to read more at home.
Thank you again for your generosity.”

To Charge and Protect
Funded Nov 2, 2013I am writing to let you know that your donations are already making a wonderful impact in my pre-kindergarten classroom. The charger and Otterbox arrived last week and my students and I have put them both to good use.
The Otterbox went right on one of the classes iPads. Now that it has a sturdy cover I do not have to constantly worry about the students dropping the iPad. If they do drop it by accident it should be fine in such a heavy duty cover.
The charger has been great because now all three of our iPads can be charged at the same time. The charging stand is sturdy enough to hold the iPads in their Otterboxes so I do not have to struggle every evening to get them out of their cases.
I would not have been able to acquire these resourced without your help. Thank you again for making public school students a priority.”

Ms. Smirk
