  • It's a Jungle/Ocean/Desert in Here!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Famous words from The Wizard of Oz but also shown in my classroom throughout the culmination of this project. Students used a variety of animal tubes to creatively display their knowledge of the ecosystems those animals belonged to, their relationships with the living and nonliving elements of the ecosystems, the adaptations that allow the animals to survive in the ecosystem, and the food webs that the animals were involved in. Hot glue guns went through bundles of glue sticks, construction paper was flying, questions of "Mrs. Greene, do you have...?" were asked as their creations came to life. Sometimes other resources had to be used in creative ways. Did you know a red plastic cup can become a mesa or a cave?

Thank you so very much for contributing to this very special project. It was such a wonderful opportunity that I will look forward to doing with my students again in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Greene

  • New Semester Supplies

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so very much for getting 2023 off to a great start in my classroom. With the colored cardstock, I am able to create durable teaching materials that are color-coded by topic. This helps to save time and effort to get the correct supplies to the correct groups.

The colored ink has allowed my students to see vivid images of plants and animals as we explore the adaptations organisms need to survive in their environments. New headphones have allowed students to focus on their learning needs through individualized instructional resources.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated. You, as donors, play an important role in my students education by providing these materials and I thank you for that.”

  • Puzzles for Christmas

    Funded Oct 16, 2022

This was the very best Christmas present for my students and me. With any free time, they are engaging with me and asking if we can race on our Rubik's cubes. When they need a brain break, they have their puzzle erasers to take a part and put back together. Best part is: the puzzle erasers are absolutely silent, even if they drop them on the floor!

The Rubik's cubes are a regular addition to the lunch table. It has brought students in my classes together socially as well as allowed them to share their knowledge with other students.

Thank you so very much for providing these gifts for my students. It has connected our classroom community in so many ways as well as built confidence and problem solving skills in several of my students.”

  • Plants vs. 5th Graders

    Funded Sep 27, 2022

Our seeds are growing! Our seeds are growing! And we got to watch it happen! At the end of class one day, a student waited to be called on to point to one of the tiny plants and say, "Mrs. Greene, it wasn't that tall when we came in this morning!" Thanks to you, my students are seeing that with a little patience, the right conditions, and some good nutrients, surprising things can happen from a little seed. As our seeds continue to grow, students will have the opportunity to see the changes that they go through in their life cycle. We don't just have to rely on diagrams -- we get to watch it happen! Thank you so much for providing this environment to my students.”

  • Rudolph, Your Nose Glows So Bright

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

This project was so much fun! Not only did my students further their understanding of circuits, but they incorporated art into it. Their individuality shone through on this project. They chose different background colors for their painting, different expressions on their reindeer's faces, different methods of ears, eyes, and antlers. They truly are a beautiful portrait of uniqueness. After completing their art, each student took their turn at handling a cordless drill to create a place for their lightbulb. Then, they soldered together the wires that connected the batter holder to the lightbulb. Finally, they correctly placed the battery, flipped the switch, and the reindeer all came alive. Thank you, donors, for providing this opportunity for my students. This was a fun way to end our first semester in our classroom community.”

  • Science Holiday Ornaments

    Funded Oct 3, 2022

I hope that you can see from the photos just how amazingly creative my students were with this project. They exhibited such differentiation with their ideas. One of my students chose "gas" for their vocabulary word and brought dry ice to demonstrate her knowledge of the concept. In the pictures, you can see a rubber duck floating on water to demonstrate "density". Still another student filled their ornament with small rubber bands to show their knowledge of "compaction." It was so great to get parents involved with their student's science learning through this project as well. Many parents contacted me to tell me how much fun they had learning from their child and seeing their passion. Thank you so very much for helping this project come to life.”

  • Exploring Science Phenomena

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Do you know how much fun it is to have a student explain a concept through a toy? With this project, my students were able to explain how reflection on a curved surface produces a hologram image. They were able to explain why density works for the colored water to always travel to the bottom of the bubble timer. They marveled for what felt like hours experimenting with Newton's cradle and the conservation of energy. The lava lamp expanded their thinking about states of matter and what happens when you add heat to a system. I'm so thankful that you helped me provide these resources in my classroom; they have been a game changer!”

  • What’s a Matter?

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

These dry erase boards and digital scales have been such a benefit to my classroom this year. We have used the dry erase boards in so many ways. From recording data from experiments to games of tic-tac-toe to settle arguments to doing math problems to documenting information in test questions, they have been through their paces in the first 12 weeks of school.

The kitchen scale was amazing for finding mass before and after combining ingredients of mixtures and solutions. Students were able to see for themselves that the salt did not "disappear" even though it wasn't visible in water; its mass was still there. Thank you for making that possible. Your contribution to the learning in my classroom is endless.”

  • Escape the Chaos

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you so very much for helping our classroom get organized and stay that way. The zippered pouches helped us by giving us a place to put our supplies. New ear buds helped everyone focus on their individualized learning during our review days. The Sterlite drawers helped shared materials have a place to be in the classroom. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card helped me provide resources that kept students 100% engaged during the most challenging time of the year. These resources can be used for years to come and your generosity is greatly appreciated! Thank you for caring about my classroom.”

  • Getting Graphic in Science

    Funded May 5, 2022

Graphic novels are a great way to get reluctant readers to love reading. These science graphic novels have put books in the hands of kids who would have never chosen reading before. The illustrations provide support for the more advanced content and allow struggling readers to comprehend the informational text.

Students have an opportunity to choose a topic of interest to learn more about. Once they see that they can learn new fascinating information, they are more likely to pick up another book and another after that.

Going to pick a book was formerly a daunting task, but now students look forward to the opportunity. Thank you so much for putting books in the hands of kids that were formerly fearful of the proposition of reading.”
