  • High Interest Reading After Hurricane Harvey

    Funded Sep 16, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation to our school family. I truly can't express the excitement on my students' faces when they saw the boxes come in and the new books that literally filled our school home. Students are now able to choose books they actually want to read and have a genuine interest in. When they finished the new book, they are excited to share with their friends why they should pick to read the new book. One student has been asking about the 39 clues series for over a year and has finally received his wish. Thank you for making my kids' dreams come true!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

  • Help! We Need Chromebooks!

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

My students are so excited about our family Chromebooks. We have had a school set before, but we have never been able to keep them in our classroom for a long period of time. These Chromebooks are going to allow for more projects, differentiated instruction, and computer skills students would not have access to otherwise. Students are already ready to finish our current project and create a new research project they can complete on Google classroom. Without this technology, my students would not be able to push themselves further. Thank you so much!”

  • Organize After Hurricane Harvey

    Funded Jul 6, 2018

We truly want to thank you for everything you have given to our classroom. Our classroom was able to start on the right foot. Our leaders have truly taken ownership of their classroom. We get compliments from other teachers and students about how clean our classroom is everyday. We've also been able to use the hole puncher for many things. I was able to get class booklets ready to go to help with transitioning quicker. Our scholars have also been able to use the hole puncher to create vocabulary cards on a ring for an easier way to study. We are so very thankful!”

  • Reading After Hurricane Harvey

    Funded Jun 15, 2018

My students are beyond excited to receive these new books. It has filled up an entire book shelf! They love all of the titles and want to check out more than one at a time. The excitement has even spilled over into other classrooms! We are excited to share with other family classrooms so this impact is going well beyond our own family! There are so many graphic novels that my students have not been able to read or grab from our library at school because they are such a hot commodity. We are so thankful!”

  • Focusing on the Right Things After Hurricane Harvey

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to thank you so much for donating these wobble stools to our classroom. As soon as the students walk into the room, they are ready to grab not only a stool, but their education. These stools have increased focus as a whole for the entire class. On top of wobble stools, I was also able to receive regular colored stools. These colored stools have provided a groups space where I am able to tutor small groups and reteach important topics students did not understand initially. Without this space, students were forced to lug large chairs around. We thank you again so much for all you've done!”

  • Moving on After Hurricane Harvey

    Funded Dec 26, 2017

We are so very thankful for all of the supplies you have provided our students with. The yoga mats are going to help students learn how to calm down their bodies and their minds. It's going to help them control themselves in a positive manner. We are also thrilled to have the basketballs, soccer balls, and pinnies as we learn to work together as a team while we are active and learning how to be get moving and exercise after school. We cannot express how ecstatic we are that these items have been donated to us!”

  • Help Harvey Be the Past

    Funded Oct 26, 2017

Thank you so much for helping us with these resources for our classroom. I would have to say the dictionaries have been the number one favorite for my students. My students walk into my room begging to play a dictionary hunt game. They absolutely love it! Another hot commodity are the wobble chairs. It has changed the dynamic of my entire classroom. Students feel focused and work so hard when they are able to sit in one of the two chairs. My students are able to work through difficulties. Thanks again so much for everything!”

  • Technology for the Kids

    Funded Oct 27, 2015

The Sharknadoes (our class name) are so very thankful for the donation you have given to our classroom. Surprisingly, we have found our favorite way to use the iPads you gave by using MyOn. MyOn is a program where students can take a quick test to determine their reading level. Once it is determined, students are given an interest survey where the program finds books they'll want to read. I have found that my students truly enjoy this more than anything else. They are able to search books easily without having to go one by one at the library. Even students who don't like reading love using the iPads during our reading time and ACTUALLY read!

We also really love the speaker. We are able to relax and have a great time during parties while listening to music, or we listen to classical music during assignments. You have definitely made our school year better and we truly appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

  • Technology in the Classroom

    Funded Oct 21, 2014

The iPads used in our classroom have made a huge impact on the children. They are able to work on things that are specifically targeted for their needs. They have a great time researching on them for different types of projects. Without these iPads it would be very hard to have small groups the way we are able to have now. The students can grab them on their own if they are finished early and use apps that help their specific need. Thank you so much for making a difference in these kids' lives! It is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

Our school is a Title I school and most students who attend are on free or reduced lunch. They are strong and inspirational kids, but some don't even know it. The new reading program is helping them realize how fun reading can be. Most students do not have someone at home to help them read or hold them accountable because their caretakers are working in order to provide for them.
