  • Time for Kids to Learn!

    Funded May 10, 2021

My students were so excited to read their first issue of Time for Kids. They are very interested in current events and have begun asking for the new issue. My students particularly liked learning about Simone Biles withdrawing from the Olympics and learning about mental health. It started a conversation that would have been very difficult to navigate at a young age. We were able to compare and contrast her to our own lives and how important our own mental health is. Thank you so much again for changing the lives of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

  • Cleaning Through Covid!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. We are truly thankful for the transformation of our classroom. It is now inviting and safe for students to snuggle up with a book. The hit items are the big Joe bean bags. My students are so excited to be able to sit in these two chairs during our "read to self" station. They're so comfortable, I get asked for students to even work in them during whole group lessons and note taking. We are so grateful for the playground materials as well! Thank you!”

  • No More "Bored" Games!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. My students were so excited for these games, especially Jenga, Sorry!, Uno, and Monopoly. They have been able to socialize constructively and learn how to read directions. It has also helped them build new friendships. I have watched students who don't usually play together, play Uno and Connect 4 while building new bonds. These games have really transformed our school family and have built relationships that are sure to last for years. Thank you so much!”

  • Speaking Life into Students!

    Funded May 11, 2021

My students are so beyond grateful for this large speaker. We received it at the end of the 2020-2021 school year and we were able to use it for our end of the year celebrations. It truly made a difference to have fun music our students are excited about. We were also able to use it while announcing awards and celebrating the hard work our students completed during that year.

This year, this speaker has allowed a brand new group of kids celebrate! Students have been able to use it to speak louder and the students feel excited to be able to come up to the front and use it. Thank you so much!”

  • Reading Comes Alive!

    Funded May 28, 2021

I am so grateful for this set of books. Due to the pandemic, reading skills have really suffered. Students are so excited to read on the technology they have received and that has been great for listening comprehension. Students are able to get books read to them and test their comprehension.

However, since students are so excited about technology, they have very rarely picked up a book on their level. With this 2nd grade set of books, my students are so excited about our "read to self" station and continue to ask for it daily! Thank you again so much!!”

  • Diversity with Kamala Harris

    Funded Dec 7, 2020

Our students have been so excited to learn about our now Vice President, Kamala Harris. When we began her story, many students were very surprised to learn about her background and the amazing, strong women that surrounded her growing up. They were very excited to relate this to our 7 habits of happy kids and the 8th habit, finding your voice. They compared their own voices to Kamala's and some struggling students were able to find their own passions after reading about our Vice President. We are so grateful!”

  • Bring Books to Life

    Funded Nov 19, 2020

Because the books were unavailable, we were able to get different activities to try and bring our classroom alive. We have been able to use the snacks as prizes to create different interactive, yet socially distanced games. Students were excited and motivated to learn when they saw their prizes. We were also able to receive hopscotch rings. Students have been using these at recess to help them get out their energy, again socially distanced. With a limit of what they can do at recess, this has been a very popular addition!”

  • Headphones for Safety!

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project. When we first came back face to face, it was extremely difficult. Students were not able to use physical books from the school due to safety reasons. They were able to use online platforms to listen to books. However, with 30 students and 30 different computers listening to different books, it quickly became a distraction to many of them. Since we have had the headphones, students' focus has increased tremendously. Especially after we moved hybrid- having both virtual and face to face students, the students are able to communicate with each other because of the microphones that are on the headphones. Thank you so much again. Truly. It is making a huge difference in their everyday learning!”

  • Socially Distant Fun During Covid-19

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

We are so genuinely excited about this project. We have enjoyed many exercises already with our jump ropes.

Because of covid, students have had to be socially distanced, including during recess. These kids have been able to still have fun together even though they are far apart. They have created races with the jump ropes which has led to many laughs and enjoyment. They are even able to safely use the jump ropes inside during breaks to get their minds ready.

While reading Click together, there is always a cry of "Nooo" from the kids as we close it up for the day. When I walk in the room I am greeted with "Can we read Click now?" We are so grateful for the great opportunities we have been gifted!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

Our school is a Title I school and most students who attend are on free or reduced lunch. They are strong and inspirational kids, but some don't even know it. The new reading program is helping them realize how fun reading can be. Most students do not have someone at home to help them read or hold them accountable because their caretakers are working in order to provide for them.
