  • Teaching Them How to Think, Not What to Think

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

I am so thrilled and filled with gratitude because of your generous donation. My students will love these items and learn so much from them. Thank you! It’s because of people and organizations like you that my kids receive the supplemental materials necessary to give them the vertical lift they need!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and one other donor.
  • Exploring the World through Virtual Reality

    Funded Aug 19, 2023

I am very humbled and thankful for your generous donation! My students are going to love our new materials. I can't wait to share the new items with them. This is so exciting! Without your donation, I am doubtful my students would be able to have the same learning experiences!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

This classroom project was brought to life by The State of Oklahoma.
  • Global Citizens Book Club- Cultural Diversity Within Our Community!

    Funded Sep 8, 2018

You are truly a great blessing to my students. Many of them don't ever go beyond their neighborhoods. Reading books with characters from other cultures and countries is broadening their worlds exponentially! We are having great discussions about the books you have helped provide. These discussions help foster an interest in other people around the globe. My students are learning that people aren't so different, even if they are located thousands of miles from each other. This type of learning leads to empathy and compassion. Those are two things we can't have enough of!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

  • Critical Thinking Using Rubik's Cubes!

    Funded Aug 31, 2017

Thank you so much for the generous donations to our classroom. My students were so excited when I showed them all of the materials that were purchased! The fact that they can use objects like the Rubik's Cubes that they previously had thought of as merely toys to use math skills and increase their problem-solving abilities is incredible to them. Sometimes you have to "trick" kids into learning things they are apprehensive about, and this is a perfect example! We are learning algorithms to solve the cubes. It is fun to watch my kids concentrate and exciting when they have figured something out! Without your generous contributions, this would not have been possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

  • Different, But Alike In So Many Ways!

    Funded Aug 15, 2017

I am so grateful and moved by your generosity in helping fund my project. These books and games that help my students learn about culture, tolerance, and diversity not only are helping my students understand facts about people who are different than themselves, but are also aiding in their social-emotional growth. In today's world, we can't teach our kids enough about love for other human beings. These materials show my kids that we all are truly more alike than we are different, and that it is great to celebrate our differences too! Thank you so much for helping us have this opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

  • Calling All (Girls Too!) Future Engineers!

    Funded Feb 22, 2017

My students are loving the STEM resources you so generously helped provide! When they first saw the materials, they were thrilled, and couldn't wait to get started. We have studied simple and compound machines, as well as Rube Goldberg Machines this year. The STEM kits and STEM lab books we acquired through Donors Choose really helped deepen our knowledge of the way things work and are put together. Watching my students problem-solve in groups was wonderful. These materials not only helped my students academically, they also helped teach my students life skills such as cooperation, patience, and perseverance.

In the future, my students will be using the skills they acquired with these materials to design their own Rube Goldbergs and compete against other students. They are very excited. Without your generous donation, they would not have the background skills and knowledge to successfully participate and compete in this event.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wallace

These materials will help my students continue to engage in STEM projects as a form of enrichment. STEM kits and activities are great for my identified gifted kids because these students often plateau in the regular classroom. These STEM materials can advance their skill levels and help them to problem-solve at more advanced levels. They will be working in groups to discover and create ways to build projects and attain goals. One of my goals is to spark more interest in engineering, especially for my female students. We are a very high poverty school. My students most likely would not get to experience these types of challenges outside of my gifted enrichment class.
