Thank you so much for the generous donations! These items are surely going to help my students grow this year. The books are going to put big smiles on their faces and the fidget toys will help them in the classroom to get a clear and focused mind. I appreciate you all so much!”

  • Learning Is Fun!

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

Thank you all so much for your generosity! Because of your kindness, my students will start the school year with many academic games that will help them foster their ELA and Math skills as well as their social skills. The students in my class this year are going to benefit from these materials, as are students in the years to come! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Jiminy Cricut!

    Funded Aug 9, 2018

We can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity! We have used our new cricut machine and accessories for so many great things in our classroom. I have created many lessons and activities for the students. By having such fun and engaging activities, the students have shown much more of a desire to participate and learn!

I have also used the cricut to make my classroom more organized for myself and personalized for the students. They each have their name, that was made with the cricut, posted on a job chart, behavior chart, lockers and participation sticks. Each student was also given a pair of gloves personalized with their initials and school mascot for Christmas.

Your donations have impacted these students more than you could know, and for that we are forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hopkins

  • Mrs. Hopkins' Smorgasbord!

    Funded Aug 21, 2017

My students and I want to thank you all for your generosity! Because of you, we have had a very successful start to the school year! With a class size of almost 30 six year olds, there are bound to be many students that benefit from seating accommodations. The wobble stools have been so beneficial for all of my students. They are able to get their wiggle breaks while completing their work at the same time. I have seen an increase in productivity and I fully believe that the wobble stools are helping these students achieve that.

We use technology every day in the classroom. Students use computers and we are constantly using our smart board. Now, because of your donations, students are able to listen to stories using our new listening center. We are able to utilize the listening center during both our math and reading blocks. The listening center is an independent center where 3-4 students can listen to a story that ties into our curriculum. Then students lead great discussions about the story!

We are all so excited about all of these new materials. Over the past few weeks we have been talking about things we are grateful for and a lot of the students agreed that we are so fortunate to have such wonderful materials in our classroom. I explained to them that these materials wouldn't be ours if it weren't for the amazing and generous people who gave them to us. You were all then quickly added to their list of things they were thankful for!

From all of us, thank you for creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for these kids!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hopkins

  • Comfy Kids in School!

    Funded Aug 23, 2016

Thank you so much for your donations to our "Comfy Kids in School" project! We received the materials a few weeks ago, and the students are loving them!

The students were so excited to see the materials! I explained to them what the materials were and how we would use them. Once I did, they were even more excited! Upon seeing the wobble chairs, one student noticed how "wiggly" they were. But it's one of the first things they choose to sit on! I was nervous that they would fool around on the stools and wobble chairs, but they are actually sitting, focusing, and loving to read, write, and use the computers! The students are also using the lap-desks to complete work around the room in a non-traditional workplace setting. I am seeing more quality work, and most importantly, more engaged students!

My students couldn't believe that all of these things were bought for us, and I think that was the most exciting part of all for them! We noticed that our listening center is getting old and broken, and we will be starting a new project to replace those toys. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when we receive a new center for them to listen to their favorite stories. Again, thank you for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hopkins

This upcoming school year I've decided to try something different to reach all learners, a flexible seating arrangement. Flexible seating arrangement is where students are provided with alternative seating such as wobbly chairs or lap desks to work on the floor! I know what your thinking, "Why can't students just sit in regular chairs?" Flexible seating promotes collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking by helping students manage their physical bodies at the same time! We all know how hard it can be to sit all day! Some students work well standing, sitting on the floor, swaying back and forth/ side to side, etc. Students will be able to sit on a cushion on the floor while using a lap desk to write a story using their vivid imagination. Or maybe a student will choose to sit on a wobbly chair so that they can safely move while working on a subtraction story problem. When seating is flexible, students can discover their own learning style, collaborate with classmates, and explore information at their own pace and in their own style. We are looking forward to implementing this into our classroom this year through your kind donations!
