Math! Math! Math!

We could not be any happier, or more grateful for your support with our DonorsChoose project! When the package arrived, I shared the news with my students of how we got our new math materials and I opened the box with them. The children were so delighted and happy to have new materials to use and explore! We immediately used the Magic Boards, Geoboards, Geometric Foam Shapes and Geostix to complement what we were studying for Geometry: 2D and 3D Shapes. I made sure to have the materials available to the students during Center Time (free time for students to independently delve). The students were able to identify and verbalize the similarities and differences between 2D and 3D shapes, just by using our new math materials (having flat and solid shapes to compare were so very helpful)!

Following our Geometry unit, we began to explore addition using the Foam Number Dice, Dominoes, Double-Sided Counters and Probability Spinners. All of our students had an opportunity to put sums together and record work by drawing and writing. Students also explored (and mastered) number facts using the dominoes and double-sided counters!
