  • We Want Paper in Kindergarten!

    Funded Mar 27, 2025

Thank you tremendously for donating to this particular project--paper is such an important learning tool and we are so happy to have a steady supply to last us through the school year! The students were initially intrigued by the boxes in the classroom and equally delighted to see a generous supply of paper. We plan to use our paper to continue our word study/phonics, practicing conventional writing, problem solving for math and recording different math concepts, completing story maps to show what we remember about what we read.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chin Choy

  • We Can Have Fun Too!

    Funded Nov 3, 2023

Thank you for making the fun project happen for my Kindergarten class! We received the package promptly and it was a wonderful moment to share the un-boxing with the children. The package arrived in time for our Friday-Funtime (Choice Time) and they got to use the new materials TODAY! It truly was a great way to end our week!

These materials will be available for the students to use, and every child will have be able to play/use them throughout the school year. Considering how much work the children do during the week, they are so happy to have more fun things to unwind with at the end of the week.”

  • Phonemic Awareness in Kindergarten!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you for supporting this project to bring Phonemic Awareness to my kindergarten class. The children are beginning to identify the different sounds in words in a daily routine that is quick and fun. The daily practice has been tremendous and very soon they will start to carry over those skills into their independent reading and writing.

Having the teaching guide helps me plan effective lessons, and having access to the videos has models the different hand motions associated with each phonemic awareness skill. I'm learning too!”

  • We Want Paper!

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

Thank you tremendously for donating to this particular project--paper is such an important learning tool and we are so happy to have a steady supply to last us through the school year! The students were initially intrigued by the boxes in the classroom and equally delighted to see a generous supply of paper. We did our very first "free draw" using blank paper (instead of drawing on the back of left over copies)--this was such a treat to draw and fresh, clean, crisp paper! Our "free draw" was an instructional video on how to draw the Pigeon from Mo Willems' books--we are learning about How-To writing and following directions). We plan to use our paper to continue our word study/phonics, practicing conventional writing, problem solving for math and recording different math concepts, completing story maps to show what we remember about what we read.”

  • Clean Rug, Please!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you tremendously for supporting our project for a new heavy duty (and long lasting) vacuum. The vacuum has ensured a very clean classroom and most importantly, a very clean rug. The classroom rug is a very important learning space as we do the majority of instruction while sitting on the rug. We also use the rug for independent work--children can read on the rug, play math games, meet with the teacher for small groups, have class meetings and share circles, or have down time/quiet time.”

  • Fun Books for the Classroom Library!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

Thank you tremendously for your support and donations to help me make this project happen. We just started the school year and I presented the books to my new kindergarteners, who were very excited about Mo Willems. He is a very popular author and many students have seen his books outside of school.

We are excited to have these books so we can study the style of Mo Willems and enjoy his stories during our independent reading time. We will also try to use his technique/unique writing style when we do our writing workshop.

Many of the students love Mo Willems characters, especially the Pigeon, followed by Elephant and Piggy and Knuffle Bunny. They are looking forward to having these books available in there independent reading book baggies. Having familiar texts help promote independent reading skills and also works at motivation to read about favorite characters.”

  • We Want to Read!

    Funded Apr 20, 2020

Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to read books that are on their level. My students were so happy to practice reading at home. Thank you for your help! At this young age in Kindergarten, it is tremendously important to make sure children has appropriate books to practice different reading strategies and develop fluency. Children need to feel successful when they read, so having "just right" books is "just" what they need! Especially during this pandemic, having appropriate books available at home was detrimental to my students keeping up and developing their independent reading skills.”

  • Because We Love Our Kitchen!

    Funded Oct 3, 2019

Thank you for you generous donations to help us realize our Donors Choose project for new dramatic play "kitchen" materials. My students were thrilled to receive the package in class and see our new Kitchen Materials.

The children were delighted to add to our Kitchen area during our free play time and had a great time "preparing" fun, international meals! Now the children look forward to Fridays when we have center time and enjoy taking turns using our new kitchen materials.

We also used our new unifix for math, and enjoy exploring and using our materials to represent and compare quantities.

    Thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

  • Books We Love!

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

Thank you for your wonderful donations! My students enjoy listening to favorite stories being read, in addition to reading these books by themselves. Now that Independent Reading has started with my class, and the children have their individual book baggies, having favorite storybooks (aka "Books We Love") has provided an entry point for students to read independently, as they are confident to read a familiar book! They are excited to show how they can read on their own! Also, our favorite storybooks also help with my students' comprehension skills!”

    With gratitude,
