  • Create a Fun and Safe Electronic Entertainment Environment

    Funded Oct 25, 2024

Thank you for supporting my project and helping to bring Arts, Media, and Entertainment career technical education to middle school students. We could not do this without your generosity. I know sometimes our request may seem odd, but I assure you there is a method to this madness and your donation will have a huge impact on many students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

This classroom project was brought to life by Riot Games Social Impact Fund and 7 other donors.
  • Jump Start a Career in Computer Sciences and Coding

    Funded Dec 5, 2022

Thank you everyone for your generosity. Even though a device such as a mouse might seem trivial to those of use that use technology every day, you have no idea how much something so seemingly simple helps our students complete their work and hopefully encourages them to continue exploring the world of computer sciences.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

This classroom project was brought to life by The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation and 5 other donors.
  • No More Muddy Volleyballs and Safer Games Too!

    Funded Nov 2, 2022

Last night’s rain reminded me how necessary these nets will be. Thank you so much for not only making our games a lot safer, but less messy! Our program succeeds thanks to your efforts. This is going to be a great season! Let’s go Santiago Santanas Girls Volleyball!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

  • A Modern Display for Future Filmmakers

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you once again so much for your generosity. Your donations will help our students see not only classic films and games the way they were meant to be seen, but also a chance to see the movies they make and the games they code on a modern display. Once again: thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 20 other donors.
  • Future Filmmakers Want to Get Back to SAFELY Making Movies

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

As we slowly return back to normal, we cannot thank you enough for what your donation allowed us to do during what we love to do. Please know that your generosity allowed us to not only keep creating, but to do so safely.

With your help, we were able to continue our school video series, Santana TV, during the pandemic. It was important during that period that our students feel a sense of community even if they themselves were not physically together.

We were not only able to continue our show, but we also entered multiple film contests and created PSAs to support mental health.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron and 8 other donors.
  • Gearing Up for the 2019-2020 Middle School Volleyball Season

    Funded Nov 19, 2019

Thank you all so much for making this happen! Team sports are so important to middle school students, yet are severely underfunded compared to high school athletics. With your support the girls will have a great season and our practices will go much more smoothly. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    Mr. Chiang

  • Help the Video Production Class Learn and Create

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

Thank you so much for making this happen. My students will feel so much more professional with this equipment. Our goal is to give them as much experience as possible in video production and hopefully inspire them to pursue filmmaking as a career, hobby, or both. Your support goes a long way towards making that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

  • Volleyball Program Gives Students Chance to Participate in Team Sports

    Funded Oct 13, 2018

Our volleyball program has benefited so much from the new balls and ball carts we received thanks to your support. Practices have gone much more smoothly and students have been able to practice in small group settings as there are now more balls to go around. We won our first 3 games which means regardless of the outcome of our remaining games we will have a winning season. While it is nice to win, the more important benefit is that our players have been having a great time being part of a team.

This season, we have a nice mix of returning and new players. The returning players were particularly excited to see the new equipment as they remember how difficult practice was last year with fewer and lower quality balls. Even a simple piece of equipment such as the ball carts have made things so much better.

Our next step is to continue growing our program. We now have former players who have gone on to play volleyball at the high school level. Some of these players had never played volleyball before being part of our program. A couple of them have come back to help our program. Thanks to your support, we are on our way to setting the standard for middle school sports programs in our district.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chiang

The video production class creates a program that is shown campus-wide. The video production crew collaborates with other groups on campus to produce this content and are very proud of their work. Some examples of what is produced are announcements and updates with the leadership class, cooking lessons with the culinary arts class, and highlights from the sports teams. The content the class produces not only helps students by providing information about campus activities, but also helps create a culture on campus. Students often discuss what they see on the show and provide input on what they would like to see featured in the future. The class not only gets to learn how to produce content, but also how to evaluate and respond to feedback. This year, we are going from a biweekly schedule to a weekly one. As a result, we need to have a faster turnaround on our projects. One of the most common reasons for delays is falling behind schedule due to production issues. The iPad would help minimize such issues by providing a platform for students to work on during preproduction. Also, it can be used as a teleprompter during production. The iTunes card would help pay for the apps needed for those activities. The sleeve protects the iPad. The additional tripods and microphones will make the students' job much easier.
