Wow! So That's What It Looks Like!
Funded Sep 1, 2010How can I thank you enough for the contribution that you have made for our class? Learning is not only more fun and interesting but the students can easily see the lessons more clearly. Students become very motivated to learn when technology is used. They are excited by the new advances in technology compared to the old chalk and talk. They love the PowerPoint slideshow presentations that I have used with the projector as well as my Internet demonstrations. This year, our school is using Achieve300 which is an Internet program that helps students read based on their reading levels and learning styles. Since the site has a vast amount of activities and pages, it was easier to demonstrate how to navigate the website on the projector. The students loved it! They couldn't believe that they can see what I am doing on my computer on the big projector screen. I also love how much easier it is to show my lessons using different colors and graphics that I otherwise wouldn't be able to re-create on my own. I can also present more information that is neater and more attractive. Many students have also mentioned that using the projector is so much easier to see. Thank you again for your contribution. Your projector has become an integral part of our classroom learning. With generous donors like you, our students are having fun while they are learning.”

Current Events For My 3rd Graders
Funded Sep 1, 2010How can I thank you enough for the contribution that you have made for our class? My students look forward to Weekly Reader every week. Even when I pass them out by table, they get so excited to read them that they forget to pass it around to the rest of their table. If only you can see their enthusiasm when they see the periodical every week! Not only are the big, colorful pictures very enticing, but the articles are also very interesting. The articles cover a broad range of topics from health to world events but yet they are age appropriate. Every issue comes with a teacher's guide with reproducible pages that can be copied, reading comprehension questions for each and every article, a reading comprehension quiz, and websites that students can visit for further information. Each issue also comes with a digital edition that can be used on an interactive white board or a LCD projector. As a part of the subscription, I also have access to e-issues of special events or reports that can also be shared with my LCD multimedia projector. My students love them!
I also assign Weekly Reader for homework. Because many of the students are often home alone with no guardian around to make sure they have done their homework, the rate of incomplete homework is very high. However, when I started assigning Weekly Reader for homework, the students enthusiastically and successfully complete their homework.
Thank you again for your contribution. Your Weekly Reader magazines have become an integral part of our classroom learning. With generous donors like you, our students have an opportunity to learn more of what's going on in our world and see what is beyond the sad realms of our neighborhood.”

Markers Anyone?
Funded Oct 17, 2008Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am extremely excited for the dry erase markers and I cannot wait to use them with my class. My students will be so impressed that there are people outside of our neighborhood who care about whether or not we have the appropriate school supplies. Using dry erase boards is a great motivational tool for them to learn, and for them to be able to write on their own lap boards with your markers will be really exciting for them, especially in different colors. Thank you”

Do You Have A Pencil?
Funded Sep 17, 2008Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am extremely excited for the pencils, and I cannot wait to use them with my class. My students will be so impressed that there are people outside of our neighborhood who care about whether or not they have school supplies. You will help contribute to their learning because some of my students lose their interest to learn when they don’t have a pencil to write with. Some students even steal other people’s pencils or start fights over them. Yesterday, I had two students fight over a pencil for over 2 hours! Now they can just focus on completing their work. Thank you”

Current Events for My 3rd Graders
Funded Sep 11, 2008Thank you so much for your donation! I cannot wait to see the look on my students’ faces when they receive the periodical. Scholastic News is filled with enticing and colorful pictures that will make reading non-fiction fun as they explore the world around us. These articles will build their critical thinking and test taking skills as they read timely non-fiction stories. These magazines will also help students practice their reading and analytical skills as well as address issues that are happening in our world. In other words, they get to practice their literacy skills and master content area at the same time. The best thing about these magazines is that they motivate my students to read! Thank you again for giving my students the opportunity to own and read such rich and informative reading material that will impact them for the rest of their lives”

Allergies Anyone?
Funded Apr 8, 2008Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am extremely excited for the dry erase rolls and I cannot wait to use them with my class. I am currently on maternity leave until September but I cannot wait to show my students what generous people like you have contributed to our classroom learning. Learning will not only be more interesting since we can easily write on the board with different colors, but we will have a cleaner and a healthier environment for our students to learn. Best of all, no more chalk dust to worry about. Thank you”

Current Events For My 3rd Graders
Funded Aug 7, 2007Thank you for your generous gift of Time For Kids for my students. I am very excited to share this periodical with them so that they can learn about the world around them and that it is age appropriate. I don't like to use the local newspapers for current events because most of the articles are usually about crime and are very difficult for my students to understand. Since the state English Language Arts test usually have non-fiction reading passages, I am sure the Time For Kids will help them prepare for the test. The periodical is also more interesting than the usual test preparation booklets. Again, thank you for your generous donation”

Keeping up with Current Events for my 3rd Graders
Funded Aug 13, 2006Thank you very much for your generous donation! My students and I appreciate your generosity. They will be very excited about the periodical and it will help prepare them for the state ELA test without them knowing it. In the past, my students look forward to reading the Scholastic News every week and I am very excited that you are providing my upcoming class with the same opportunity to enjoy such a rich and interesting periodical. Again, thank you for your generosity.
In addition, because the periodical may take 4-8 weeks to start coming, my students will be thanking you immediately thereafter.
Sincerely,

Help my 3rd graders keep up with Current Events
Funded Aug 11, 2005On behalf of my students, I want to thank you for all of your support. We really appreciate it. Now, all of my students will receive their own copy of Scholastic News, and they will have a chance to learn about what is going on in our world. In each issue, they will also get a chance to practice their reading comprehension skills and test taking strategies. In addition, since many of them do not get any books or materials to read at home, the Scholastic News will definitely provide this opportunity for them. Again, thank you!
