Mid-Year Needs
Funded Dec 31, 2019The Mid-Year needs project was so needed! From enhancing presentations (both students' and teachers) to seat cushions that allow my students with attention difficulties, my classroom has flourished! My students have become more independent in knowing how they learn best. I have found my students coming into class and grabbing a seat cushion right away. They are calmer and able to focus more. In terms of the connector cords, we have saved so many presentations! When administration needs to project for awards ceremonies or band concerts, they know who to ask for a great presentation! The cords have allowed a smooth transition between computers as content gets projected. The wireless remote does so much more than I thought it would. I thought it just would advance the slides in a slide show, but it has proven to scroll down documents and play and pause videos while they are on the projector screen. My classroom has finally moved into the 21st century! This project has inspired other teachers to launch projects on DonorsChoose also. They see how these items have improved my room and they hope to do the same in theirs. We thank you so much for the gift of ease...in many areas of learning!”

Lend Me Your Ears...Figuratively, Not Literally!
Funded Dec 3, 2019When the box came in the mail, all my students cheered! They immediately said, "Now we don't have to put those broken gross earbuds into our ears!" I immediately took down the old headphones (which were down to 5 working pairs with gross earwax on them) and put up 20 of the new ones. I wrapped rubber bands around the length of the cords to keep them neat and orderly on the "Headphones" wall. My students are now able to listen to the video I upload on Google Classroom as well as have a quiet moment where they can put these on and tune out the world around them. I have also noticed that my autistic students put these on when they are on sensory overload. Even though the headphones only came in a few weeks ago, they have already started making huge impacts. Thank you so much for this gift. With all our gratitude here at WSTA, THANK YOU!”

Funded Jun 21, 2017These headphones are so valuable to our everyday lessons here in Chelsea, MA. This morning I had the kids answer the questions above. The below statements are directly from the students using the headphones that you all so generously provided.
"I am happy to use these headphones so I will not get distracted by others and then I can get more work done!"
"The headphones with the microphone is super useful for people who may type slowly. They can now use the speech to text feature now works! With the silencing headphones, is can help to block out other people and focus on your work."
"These will improve our classroom because we can focus better because last year we weren't that focused. Thank you!"
"Now we don't have to hear other people's computer and we can see the videos at our own pace."
"These headphone allow the Chromebooks to read stories to us. I never wanted anyone to know that I am using this feature on the computer. Now I can plug in the headphones and no needs to know that I need the computer to read to me."
"If someone is not having a good day, they can use the noise-canceling headphones to tune out the class and just focus on their work"
"We will have more time in class to do fun things now that we don't have to go to the Technology Classroom to borrow headphones anymore!"
As you can see these words are full of gratitude and appreciation for your gift. Thank you so much, you have changed the way we differentiate our lessons here in Chelsea.”
