I am a computer science teacher for 1st through 5th grade. Many surrounding schools & districts already have a technoogy class, but our computer science program is brand new this year. My students are interested in technology, especially computer programming and game design. They are digital natives, at least when it comes to using technology. Understanding how computers work, and being able to create their own content using technology, is a new experience for them. Until now, my students have not had the opportunity to experience a class like this. My goal is to teach my students the basics of computer science, so that they can become better learners and thinkers in ALL subject areas. I also want to expose them to and get them excited about Computer Science, so that they can pursue these classes in secondary school and college, and work in STEM careers when they grow up!
