  • Building Strong Kindergarten Mathematicians!

    Funded May 18, 2022

I just wanted to share how grateful I am for your support in funding my classroom math resources. I have used the read aloud, manipulative, games, and tools with 2 groups of students and it has made a huge difference. I am proud to say that my classroom was on average in the 85th percentile nationally for growth, meaning they grew more than 85%. of the nation on standardized testing in math. I am confident that this project significantly impacted those results in bringing the curriculum to life! I really appreciate your investment in hands on learning for my student.

Thank you for supporting my project, building strong mathematicians. Your impact has helped me immensely!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

  • Reading to Change the World!

    Funded May 16, 2019

I am so thrilled to let you know that our project is fully funded thanks to your support.

Next year, we are moving to a brand new school building and are trying to fill our 1st grade classroom with books for the students to enjoy. Your contribution will make a HUGE difference!

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom library! I am so excited to provide these incredible books to my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

  • Book Club Books: It's Lit!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to my project, Book Clubs: It's Lit! We got our package on Thursday and I wish you could have seen my students faces when they saw all the books we received. When I shared the books with the class, they were ecstatic that they get to have their own copy of the book!

They love the books so much, they have asked to take them to lunch and recess every day this week! I am so thankful for the way this project has reignited their love of reading towards the end of the year.

We are so thankful for your generosity and kindness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

  • S.T.E.M. Resources to Bridge the Gap

    Funded Apr 19, 2017

Thank you so much for your contribution to my STEM Resources to Build the Gap project. After having my students in 4th grade and moving up to 5th together, I am noticing significant strides in their problem solving and reasoning skills in the areas of math and science.

I will never forget the look on my students faces when we first unwrapped the STEM materials. They were ecstatic. We loved using the Legos to build mock cities to destroy using constructive and destructive forces in science, dominoes for fraction games, playing cards for tower building and multiplication fact fluency games, and Ozobots during our weekly hour of code. After my students have completed an assignment, they have the option to get a "STEM Bin" and draw a design challenge card. They complete the challenge using problem solving skills and the resources provided in their bin. These examples are just a few ways this project has enhanced math & science instruction.

Thank you for making an impact on my students lives and our classroom.

We are so grateful for your support!”

    Ms. Hawkins

  • Project Portable: Getting Organized To Maximize Student Learning

    Funded Aug 15, 2017

There are no words to describe how thankful I am for your contribution to my classroom project. We have been in school for 2 months, and the students are absolutely loving our classroom environment! We have been using our new organizational systems to learn efficiently. My students are practicing responsibility by putting all of their books and supplies in the right places!

My principal was blown away when she saw how at home the students feel in our portable. The mailbox has made parent communication much more efficient.

I am so thankful for your generosity! Thank you for making my portable project possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

  • Make Our Classroom Library Wishlist Come True!

    Funded Jan 2, 2017

Thank you so much for making our classroom library wishlist come true! My students have absolutely loved reading the books that you provided for our classroom.

Three of my girls have started a "Dork Diaries" Fan Club and have already read 5 of the 11 books in the series that we have. "Owl Diaries" has also been a major hit and two of my students have already completed the series in less than a month. Some of my boys have adored the "Captain Underpants" series and others have been devouring all of the sports books.

This makeover has tremendously impacted my reading scores. 100% of my students have gone up at least 3 letters on Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System since our new library has been instated. Thank you so much for making a difference in my students' education!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

  • Ignite a Love of Reading with Diverse Books!

    Funded Dec 18, 2016

Thank you so much for the impact that you have had on our classroom. Since receiving our books, my students' reading stamina has dramatically increased. 100% of my students have met our independent reading goal of 30 minutes of uninterrupted focused reading.

Two students who reported at the beginning of the year that they "hated reading" have fallen in love with Jacqueline Woodson's Brown Girl Dreaming and Kwame Alexander's Booked. Our next class read aloud will be Esperanza Rising. We are in love with our new library!

I could not have provided this reading environment for my students without your support.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkins

My 4th grade students are a culturally diverse group of scientists, artists, poets, engineers, mathematicians, readers, and writers. They want to be architects, doctors, soldiers, teachers, fashion designers, technicians, and authors when they grow up. They have big dreams and brilliant minds and with the right tools, each one of them can succeed. It is my first year teaching, and I have high expectations and hopes for my students. I am so thankful for this organization and the opportunities it has provided my students that would otherwise be impossible. With the help of Donors Choose, I can continue to provide my students with the highest quality resources they deserve!
