My school district is located in a low-income, urban area. The families of our school are some of the poorest in the district. Rising above those challenges, my students love learning and growing as leaders. Most of my students go home to parents who cannot help them with their homework because of language barriers or lack of education. Most of my students are English Language Learners and are bilingual in English and Spanish. Against all odds, their love of learning brings them to school everyday and their academic growth is outstanding. They work hard, collaborate, problem solve, and persevere. They truly are leaders in our community.
