Voices of Resilience: Exploring Cultural Narratives Through Literature

Help me give my students the following novels - Esperanza Rising and The Birchbark House - in order to explore perspectives on cultural identity, family, and resilience within a historical context to integrate into our history social-science units.

  • Tell Me a Story

    Funded Mar 8, 2025

I want to thank you funding this project! The timing is perfect as we will be entering into our unit in a few short weeks. I am so appreciative that my students can get rich and rigorous instruction through text while connecting to personal stories through their own immigration experience/family history. You have made the difference in making learning relevant and meaningful for my students! ”

  • Start Smart for the New School Year

    Funded Sep 25, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution! My former students were able to use the supplies and kick off the new school year being organized and having the materials needed to keep a clean and tidy classroom for the time that I was with them. I had a change in classroom assignment months into the school year, but students were happy to move on to another classroom with their goodies in tow. I hear they've been put to great use! I appreciate your continued support for my classroom and the difference you make in the lives of children!”

  • Calling All Readers! It's Storytime!

    Funded Mar 7, 2020

Thank you so much for funding these materials! Being able to add culturally relevant materials to a classroom library is always a bonus. While the reading material was initially intended for my 5th grade students, life changed drastically due to the pandemic and my project goals shifted a bit. However, when school resumed to in-person learning the following year, I had a new group of excited and willing readers who were able to enjoy the "new" collection of literature. In addition, being able to connect literature with writing was truly impactful as I was able to use the "Chart Sense for Writing" to anchor and model lessons.”

  • CS Discoveries With Dash

    Funded Jun 4, 2021

You have done it again! Because of your contribution, you have generated an excitement and love of robotics that will impact my students for many years to come! Being able learn to code is such an accessible way reached a young audience in the field of computer science. The highlight of course was being able to program and see Dash 1, 2 and 3 in action as they raced across the room! I look forward to continuing the work of teaching coding and robotics with future classrooms! You truly are one of a kind! :-)”

  • Math Tool Kits for the Distant Learner

    Funded Mar 27, 2021

I would like to extend a heartfelt "THANK YOU" for your contribution and support. The instructional materials that were funded helped support student learning during remote learning and upon our return to the classroom for some in the spring of 21'. The gift card was valuable in being able to purchase digital materials that the students enjoyed interacting with in Google slides. The created and collaborated with math challenges in place value and measurement. The math tools were a hit as students measured and applied their learning in a real-world setting. This meant measuring everything in their space and comparing units of measure, whether it be at home or school. Students used the acrylics to design and create and students loved that they each got their own kits! And all of this enjoyment in their learning experiences occurred because of your thoughtfulness! You are appreciated!”

  • DIY with Micro:bit

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

I just cannot express enough gratitude and words to describe how appreciative I am for your support! Thank you! Because of you, my students were actively engaged in computer science activities all year and learned how to program and code. The Micro:bits were a hit and kicked off many weeks of learning to code and program - students were very innovative with their design thinking and creativity. Our Micro:bits were an invaluable instructional tool throughout our time of remote learning and made a such difference in piquing student interest in computer science that will carry on with them in subsequent years!! 💗”

  • TechKNOWLEDGEy for Curious Minds 2.0

    Funded Jan 17, 2019

Sending a belated, but very heartfelt thank you for your support and generosity! Because of your funding, I have been able to integrate technology in such fun and engaging ways! The HP touchscreen was invaluable as it allowed students to create, cast and share work digitally. In addition, students were able to engage in the use of digital tools and platforms that supported and extended learning in all content areas by accessing programs with the HP. The document camera has also been an essential part in learning experiences as we were able to use it in areas such as science - taking an up-close look at salt crystals was a highlight as students were in awe of being able to see such detail that wasn't always visible with our hand magnifiers. Projection for presentations was key and having the ability to so by having the right tools such as our overhead projector was wonderful! The microphone was used to record readings of student authored narratives and dabble in the creation of podcasts. As we learn more, we are looking forward to integrating with music and vocals. All this was made possible because of you, and for that we are forever grateful! Many thanks! ”

  • Going the Distance in Remote Learning Part 2

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

You have made such a difference! Because of your contribution toward this project, you helped continue the work we were doing in a traditional setting. We had many challenges to overcome this year, but because of you students received materials that kept them engaged while learning remotely. Students were able to think creatively by completing activities in their book, Wreck This Journal, improve penmanship and writing skills with the cursive writing books and instruments, improve their spelling, and annotate text with sicky notes! We will be spending our last few weeks of school exploring force and energy with our brand new Hot Wheels cars and are looking forward in engaging in science experiences! You made this student engagement possible! Thank you for your support! 💕”

  • Empowering Young Minds Through Technology Part 1

    Funded Jun 18, 2020

I want to thank you so much and share the impact your donation has had on student learning. We entered into the new school year remotely and had to reimagine how to reach students and engage them in quality learning experiences. The HP Desktop you funded, helped me do just that! It became a teaching tool that is reliable during our Zoom meetings with a camera feature, has more than enough storage for student work to be downloaded and reshared, and it has allowed my students to interact and be engaged in online platforms that I am able to view and assign because of I have updated and newer software. Some of the activities students have been able to create include collaborative presentations, online books with storytelling, virtual field trips, coding projects, as well as projects on interactive platforms such as Nearpod, iCivics, and Book Creator allowing learning in all subjects to continue. Even though we are not in-person, students can still be engaged in meaningful ways. Thank you for your support!”
