A Rug With Room for All!
Funded Aug 3, 2023Thank you SO much for quickly mobilizing to help me get my classroom ready. I felt so much anxiety when I went to set up today and realized I didn’t have room for everyone, and I can’t believe how quickly the problem was solved. I am, as always, blown away and buoyed by the way you all mobilize to help kids you don’t even know. This is a great way to start the school year and I look forward to many days of lessons and stories on our new rug.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021I am so excited to have a 21st century classroom with the robots to prove it! Our amazingly cool Dash robots will help the students learn important coding skills. They will be ready for all of the incredible jobs out there for people with these skills. I will definitely be learning alongside them. We have already had so much fun with our STEM materials. The kids engage in STEM challenges almost weekly, and enjoy building with Legos and Magnatiles in our Makerspace center. My students learn best when they are engaged in hands-on activities, and I am so grateful to be able to provide those experiences. Thank you so much for the support!”

Funded Oct 13, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom project! The students were so thrilled to receive the reading games and activity centers. This gift has allowed me to lead fun and meaningful reading groups in my classroom. I can pull small groups to provide targeted support, while knowing that the students working independently are engaging in high quality activities. Prior to having these centers, I was doing tons of work to prepare games and activities on my own. This has had a huge impact on my days and I am so grateful for the support!”

Funded Mar 5, 2022Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom reading project. The kids are so thrilled to get their magazines each week. It is such a gift to have grade level texts with real photographs and stories that the kids find amazing and engaging. Our school curriculum materials are so dry and boring - the kids do not relate to them at all - and I want all of my second graders to know that reading can and should be an enjoyable activity. These magazines do exactly that. Thank you so much for helping make learning fun for my amazing kids!”

A Library as Beautiful and Diverse as Our Students
Funded Feb 21, 2022Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom library project. The students have been so thrilled to have books in the library with characters who look like they, believe in the things they believe in, go to schools like theirs, and more. They are also broadening their world view by learning about people who may be different from them. I feel so fortunate to have such a rich collection of books featuring diverse characters. Thank you so much for your help! The students and I appreciate you.”

Funded Dec 10, 2021Thank you so much for donating to my classroom project. Our new rug is beautiful, clean and well-loved. When we unrolled it, the kids (and I!) were horrified to see what the old rug was supposed to look like. Now that I don't have to wonder about what kinds of things are lingering on that disgusting rug, I don't worry about the kids lying down and reading, lounging to play games, or sitting together for lessons and story times. When I share classroom photos with parents, I don't feel embarrassed about the state of our room environment. Thank you so much!”

Classroom Library Makeover!
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom library project. The students love the beautiful new books, and they are so excited to see themselves and their classmates in the characters. They look forward to independent reading time each day, and get so excited to go "book shopping" in our classroom library when it is their turn. Recently, one of my students told me that she never wants to grow up because she always wants to have story time at school. I feel so fortunate to have so many amazing books to share with the students and to read aloud. Thank you so much for your help with this!”

Funded Aug 9, 2017Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom project. With your help, we now receive both Scholastic News and Time for Kids weekly. These magazines have really enriched our reading instruction. They tie in with social studies and science in a timely and relevant way. The articles are inspiring, engaging and thought provoking. Every week the stories spark meaningful discussions and debates.
Our push in education is to expose our students to high quality informational texts to prepare them for college and help them become news-literate now and in the future. Students who are news literate can consume the news critically, knowing what is trustworthy and what is not. This feels more important now than ever.
It is empowering for me as a teacher to approach a difficult topic knowing that I have the right tools and resources for the job. It is also empowering for my students to begin to see themselves as news consumers. I trust that this will have a lifelong impact.”

We Need a Reading Program Designed for Us!
Funded Nov 30, 2016Thanks to your generous donation, my students are reading more than ever. Over the past two months of implementing the Wilson Reading intervention program, I have seen unprecedented growth. One of my students who was a non-reader has gone up by 4 reading levels, which is the equivalent of a full grade level. Many of my students have made it through their entire elementary school careers without learning how to sound out a 3 letter word, so this is huge. Now that I have the resources I need, I am able to support my students in a targeted and differentiated way. Our entire morning is full of small group and one-on-one instruction using a research-based intervention program. The students are feeling successful, their confidence is up, and they look forward to reading lessons. This is a huge change from the tantrums and meltdowns that were happening daily. Thank you so much for all of your support. You made a huge difference!”
