  • Put a Little Light in Your Heart

    Funded Dec 15, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation of the LED lights, copper tape, battery holders, batteries and switches! Our students are getting a hands on experience with building different types of circuits. They will then take this knowledge to create custom made greeting cards that incorporate the use of circuits and lights. We will be creating a stock of greeting cards for our school store to have for birthdays and holidays to help us raise funds for additional furniture and accommodations in our store! Thank you again, my students and I are grateful for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerber

  • Code Masters

    Funded Apr 14, 2017

Thank you so much for providing us with an opportunity to explore the world of programming! My students have just begun to delve into the resources but I can see a sense of wonder when they get a hands-on experience with these programming tools! For some of my students, this is the first time they have had an experience with this concept, while others have had experience in block programming. Dash & Dot have been particularly great in using the ideas they learned on the computer and harnessing it to bring their programming skills to the next level in a physically tangible way!

For my students experiencing programming for the first time, they are beginning to understand the language of programming and the concepts involved with sequencing this language. Following directions longer than 1 step can be a struggle for some of my students. These resources make it easy to introduce multi-step directions and provides my students with a sense of pride. This will encourage and teach them to persevere through tough situations! This is just the beginning of a programming curriculum that I am building but it would not be possible without your generous donations! Thank you from all of us from class Y10 at 277Q!”

  • We Can Lego WeDo!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for letting us take advantage of this ingenious method of learning. My students have been able to use the LegoWeDo 2.0 to create a robot in order to conduct an experiment on friction! Students worked in teams and communicated to one another the directions and needs in order to create the robot. Each student had their own responsibility and understood the role they played as part of a team.

Each of my students possess a wide range of abilities. The Lego WeDo set has allowed each of my students to access the science curriculum in their own way. All of my students have taken pride in their role on the team!

My students then moved on from the physical building to the digital building by creating code to make the robot move across the floor. When we press the run button on the computer, students are enamored that it will make the robot move through bluetooth technology! They follow it closely across the floor. They cannot believe how cool this project is! We look forward to continuing the use of the LegoWeDo set throughout the year and the future!”

  • Get Inspired by Technology

    Funded Nov 15, 2013

This project has brought 3D imaging to life for my students. It certainly has added another dimension to their learning. The students are absolutely enamored by the concept of fabricating something from the computer and transferring it into a physical form. All of the students are constantly asking me, "Can you make me one?", to which I respond, "No, but you can make yourself one!"

With my 5th graders I have begun using 3D web based software to get students excited about creating their own 3D designs. They are motivated to use the computer for something that is new to them.

Sometimes, I find it difficult to find something novel to expose my students to in the computer lab because so many of them have computers at home. However, this new and exciting technology has allowed me to bring a sense of curiosity to the students that they would not have had otherwise. Thank you again for your generous donations, it has gone a long way in my classroom!”

  • Help Bring Technology to the Bronx

    Funded Dec 15, 2012

Thank you so much for you wonderful donation of technology into the classroom. The projector that you donated will help students in their cluster teacher classrooms every single day. The projector is to be used primarily to assist in education in music, as a way to bring music to life in an geographical area that does not have the funds to purchase many of the different standard instruments used in music. This tool will be used in conjunction with speakers to inspire young musicians and help them gain a better understanding of how music is made.

Without your help, students would have been stuck looking at the same old instruments for the entire year. Now the music will pop off the screen and really make a difference our visual learners.

Again, thank you for your generous donation, it will make a world of difference in our students music education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerber

I am the Technology Liaison representative from our site. As such, I am always looking for hands on STEAM activities to take advantage of our students abilities. The majority of our student population are on the autistic spectrum. These students possess unique skills that lend itself to hands on activities in the area of Technology
