During the pandemic, many students have been unable to interact with peers. The social side effects are evident in their classroom encounters. Additionally, they have endured increased screen time, and it can be difficult to stay engaged during independent learning. The light table, sand bins, and colorful tiles will not only be fun and engaging, but will also facilitate healthy peer interactions. I personally have seen what these open ended materials can do to enhance learning engagement. It is amazing what a little imagination will do to increase attention, retention, and an overall passion for learning.
