  • Headphones For Success!

    Funded Mar 16, 2024

Headphones are essential everyday in our classroom. I appreciate you donating to this project which allowed my to purchase enough headphones for my students.

Since receiving the headphones, I was able to expand the types of lessons we have done in class. We have explored making videos, Flipgrids, EdPuzzles and other creative projects that enhance student learning. Student attention has improved, as they are able to cancel out distractions with the headphones and focus on learning.

In our classroom, we use headphones on a daily basis. The kindness you showed by contributing to this project is greatly appreciated. These headphones help engage and empower all learners in my classroom.”

  • Let's Get Hatching!

    Funded Jan 18, 2025

Thank you for contributing to this project. Our middle school students are inquisitive and we try to capture any chance we have to expand their learning. Last year, when we hatched eggs, the students were over the moon. They were excited throughout the entire process and eager to learn more.

Our only hiccup last year hatching eggs was that the incubator was old and the temperature did not remain consistent. We tried to hatch a dozen eggs but only three made it. The incubator only had a small viewing window so it was hard for students to see the eggs hatching.

The new incubator and materials purchased through this project is amazing! It has a wide viewing field and students will really get a first hand look at the hatching process by using the candling light. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to purchase these supplies for our classroom. I can't wait to see what my students hatch up!”

  • Beading Builds Better Community!

    Funded Feb 4, 2024

Thank you for helping fund this project. My students were very excited when the boxes came to our classroom. Their eyes lit up when we unpacked the beads and beading supplies.

This year, our school has a block of recess / Social-Emotional Learning time. During this time, students have been using the beads and bracelet materials from this project to make friendship bracelets. They have been able to sit and work together. This has helped build friendships and a sense of community.

Thank you again for supporting my students and my classroom. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

  • Positivity Is Contagious!

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

Thank you for donating to this project. My students and I have utilized the materials from this project to increase the positivity in our building!

One of the projects we took on was revamping the bathrooms in the building. So far, we have renovated two of the girls bathrooms. Using vinyl, we added quotes to the windows and mirrors. We also added posters to the bathroom stalls and a basket of sanitary products for students to use. The positive feedback has been overwhelming!

Another project we took on was revitalizing several of the bulletin boards in our building. The inspirational quotes and pops of color are helping create an empowering environment. Thank you again for supporting my students. It is truly appreciated!”

  • Help Make Recess Fun Again!

    Funded Sep 18, 2023

Thank you for contributing to a project that has helped my students more than you know. Initially, I had intended this project to help my 6th grade students. However, once we went outside for recess with our new equipment, all students in my school wanted to join in! It was amazing to see 6th graders bonding with 7th and 8th graders over a game of soccer.

It has been wonderful to watch how the equipment purchased through this project has benefited students. Give students a ball and a field and the lines of communication instantly open. Working together, students have to figure out what game to play, what the rules are, and who is on what team. The communication skills developed during recess have a direct impact in the classroom. Behavior and focus have improved in my ELA class.

Once again, thank you for supporting this project and my students. Your kindness is greatly appreciated!”

  • Tired Classroom Needs Facelift

    Funded May 18, 2023

Thank you for supporting my students and our classroom community! The impact of your generosity can be seen both inside and outside of our classroom. My students have enjoyed working with the new Cricut machine and improving our bulletin boards, walls, and even the floors! They love coming up with ideas and using the materials you help fund to bring their ideas to life.

My incredible 6th grade students are even beginning to plan a project to spread kindness throughout our building. They are looking to create inspirational quotes on the Cricut machine and apply them to a variety of surfaces throughout our school building (bathroom mirrors, windows, display cases, etc). You have helped take learning to the next level!”

  • Charging Up Our Classroom!

    Funded Dec 7, 2018

Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting my students. Having a new chromebook charging cart in the classroom has excited my students beyond measure. Many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school, so they depend on the chromebooks in my classroom. These chromebooks have helped to reduce the digital divide in my classroom. The playing field is now even, as my students all have equal access to technology. In my class, students are utilizing chromebooks to do research and write. The charging cart has helped my students have reliable technology. They are no longer afraid of "losing charge" which would ultimately cause them to lose their work. The charging cart that you helped place in our classroom has given my students a sense of security, and for that I am very grateful.

Not only does the chromebook charging cart you helped us obtain lock, but it is also on wheels. This means that our chromebooks are now mobile and we can take our learning to new places. Yesterday, for example, we were able to wheel the cart down to our auditorium and conduct class down there. My students were working on an argumentative fishbowl discussion on the choices characters made in the novel we finished reading. Students were able to use the chromebooks for this activity because they were charged and came with us. It was really fun to see the students taking pride in their materials, wheeling the cart down the hallway!

My students are excited to come to class and are eager to take over their own learning. This makes the learning truly authentic for them. Having fully charges chromebooks in my classroom really changed the way I teach and how my students learn. We can now depend on the technology because it is charged and secure. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Chromebooks: A Re-Engaging Experience!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting my students. Having new chromebooks in the classroom has excited my students beyond measure. Many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school. These chromebooks have helped to reduce the digital divide in my classroom. The playing field is now even, as my students all have equal access to technology. In my class, students are utilizing the Chromebooks to do research and write. We are just breaking the surface on what these Chromebooks will help us do!

One of my students approached me after class one day and explained that she thought it was unfair that our school did not have recess. She asked me if she could use one of the DonorsChoose chromebooks during her study hall period. This student, who use to be a reluctant learner, has been coming in to my classroom every day for two weeks just to use the chromebooks. She has researched the benefits of recess and crafted a persuasive letter to the superintendent. Having access to these chromebooks has inspired her to extend her learning beyond the classroom. She is also working on a powerpoint presentation about the benefits of recess, and plans to present it at the board of education meeting next week! The Chromebooks from DonorsChoose have really opened new avenues of learning for my students.

My students are excited to come to class and are eager to take over their own learning. This makes the learning truly authentic for them. The chromebooks really changed the way I teach and how my students learn. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Let’s face it, technology is a key component in today’s classroom. My students live in a digital age. In order to delve deeper into the curriculum and beyond, my students need Chromebooks. This will not only help reduce the digital divide, but help re-engage my students as well. Often times, my students are pulled out of school for extended periods of time. When they return, they are behind academically and disinterested. I feel that Chromebooks would not only help re-engage my students but they would help them catch up academically as well. My students are expected to work both independently and cooperatively with technology in my classroom. Unfortunately, I currently do not have enough chromebooks for my students. Students have to share the technology or are asked to bring it in from home. Due to the socio-economic makeup of my students, that is just not a realistic expectation. Chromebooks in my classroom would re-engage students in the learning process which would ultimately help decrease absenteeism. Students would use the chromebooks for a variety of activities including listening the the audio versions of grade level texts, collaboratively contributing to group writing tasks, engaging station work to develop vocabulary, and much much more! My students are surrounded by stressors that constantly pull their attention away from the classroom. Chromebooks would motivate students to focus on their classwork and explore their potential. These chromebooks would honestly make a world of difference in the lives of my students. They would be given access to the digital world, which currently is limited due to the lack of resources. Ultimately, this will re-engage and encourage more of my students to come to school on a regular basis. This will ultimately reduce the high rate of absenteeism in my school.
