  • Sublimate This!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for supplying our new sublimation printer with the ink that we need to create self-designed and created products! Now that we're getting close to the end of the school year, I plan to give students more and more opportunities to make gift items for themselves, friends, and family using our maker space materials. With the blanks you helped fund, they will now be able to choose from drinking tumblers, name tags, ornaments, coasters, magnets, and much, much more! I can't wait to see what they create: Who knows, maybe one of them will design an EPIC magnet for the 2022-2023 promoting students and will make bank selling them to the entire 8th-grade class! The opportunities are endless when you teach students a new skill and let them run with it. Thanks again for sharing my vision of an empowered, energetic group of Hayward teens going off to high school with amazing making skills!”

  • STEAMy Storage!

    Funded Feb 24, 2023

Thank you so much for donating these heavy-duty shelving units and commercial laundry carts to my middle school technology and engineering classroom! It takes a ton of stuff to do STEAM right: from 3D printer filament to paint, batteries, motors, clay, cleaning supplies, and circuit-making supplies. You name it, we probably have it here in our storage space! Luckily for us, you have donated incredibly important organization units so we aren't tripping all over our supplies anymore! I'm also not spending extra time hunting down supplies when students ask me for an unusual item because now I have differentiated storage for art supplies, 3D printing supplies, games, and office/building supplies. Thank you so much for making this possible—it has truly made our classroom more functional and equitable for all of my students!”

  • STEAM Will Rise!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project! Our middle school technology classroom is in a building that wasn't designed to be a classroom, so we have unique challenges in finding space to keep our supplies neat and organized. The mobile file cabinet not only gives us more storage, but I'm also using it to lift up the corner bookshelf we also received. As a result of these two items, our books are more accessible to students. The corrugated scissors are truly wonderful for cutting the thick corrugated cardboard that we use for prototyping our inventions. My students love to paint their creations so having more paint, paintbrushes, and palettes on hand is always great. The dominoes will be used at the end of the year when students are creating their own Rube Goldberg machines—and this year will be epic! Thanks again for partnering with me to provide an enriched experience for my middle school computer scientists and engineers!”

  • STEAMy Seating

    Funded Feb 16, 2023

Thank you so much for donating these wobble stools to our middle school computers/technology/engineering classroom! My students continue to experience fallout from the pandemic: they still have trouble sitting still, paying attention, and staying focused during class. When they can get some movement while seated, they are able to stay more focused than when they're sitting in normal chairs. While I think the academic challenges that the pandemic has created will be felt for years to come, it is my hope that providing students with a way to use their energy that doesn't distract them will help some of them begin to catch up and eventually excel. Thanks again!”

  • Let's Get Inky!

    Funded Mar 9, 2023

Thank you so much for donating the printer ink to our classroom. As a result, I've been able to print vibrant, colorful posters again. Students designed personal logos earlier this quarter, but I was never able to print them until now. With the new infusion of ink, I was able to print them all and will be posting them all over our classroom so they can have a sense or ownership and pride when they enter class. We really appreciate you donating toner so we can continue to enjoy seeing our work in all the colors of the rainbow! Thanks again!”

  • Crafty STEAM

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating these materials to our busy middle school STEAM classroom! With your help, students will be able to decorate the electric cars that they've built using DC motors and circuits. I am continually searching for safer ways to cut materials, and these cutting blades come in handy for specific jobs during making labs. The felt, glue, washi tape, and foam sheets allow students to make their creations bright and colorful. Wood dowels are great for making simple machines, which we'll need to do when we build Rube Goldberg machines later this year. The beads are very popular because students love to make bracelets for themselves or their friends. Thanks again for your kindness and support!”

  • It's Tool Time!

    Funded Nov 21, 2022

Thank you so much for donating these tools and STEM supplies to our classroom! With your donated items, students have been able to strip wires to connect circuits in their electric car projects, and as we continue through the school year, they will be able to use more and more of the tools. They've already got experience with socket and ratchet wrenches, screwdrivers, power drills, pliers, multimeters, and more—so having a full toolset on hand is a great way to encourage them to use more tools for their projects.

Later this school year, my students will be creating Rube Goldberg machines out of recycled materials and will try to move a golf or ping pong ball through a series of simple machines to move the ball from one place to another. We've already used the golf balls and clubs after designing and building mini-golf holes that used servos to create moving parts. Needless to say, these aren't typical school projects so we wouldn't be able to make any of this happen without the support of folks like you. We truly appreciate your belief in enriching activities and bringing engineering and computer science to our middle school!”

  • It's Getting STEAMier in Here!

    Funded Nov 12, 2022

Thank you so much for supplying these organizational items and making supplies! We have a unique classroom, where we get to build things out of upcycled materials, so I need to keep a lot of items on hand. The alligator clips are being used to wire circuits to power motors, LEDs, and more. The cardboard stand and drying rack allow us to keep building materials more neatly, with less danger of cockroaches making an unwanted appearance in our supplies. The dongle helps me transfer 3D designs from my computer to the 3D printer so I can print out student designs easier and faster. The motors are powering electric cars that students are currently designing: the terminals on the motors are quite delicate, so we sometimes need extras on hand when they break. We really enjoy designing and building, and we couldn't do it without your help, so thanks again!”

  • Give Us Some STEM!

    Funded Oct 24, 2022

Thank you so much for funding our project for STEAM supplies! There's no limit to what students can create using cardboard tubes, craft supplies like pipe cleaners, googly eyes, pom-poms, colored tape, and more! I attached photos of their most recent 3D creatures and buildings that they created using their amazing imaginations and the supplies you donated. If you've never tried to make a 3D creature that can stand up on its own, I urge you to try it: it's much harder than it looks! Students begin to understand how to add slots and supports, how to join different materials together, the best kinds of materials to use based on their needs, spatial reasoning, and much more!

The bookshelf is perfect for housing our growing library of STEM books and graphic novels. I do my best to encourage my students to read since many of them are far behind grade level.

I also want to thank you for providing us with more ink for our printer. Students can use our classroom printer to create colorful stickers, buttons, posters, and more. They really like having the ability to print in the classroom. Some of them rarely get a chance to use a printer at school so it's good for them to learn how to use one.

Last but not least, thanks for the snacks. The kids are very snack-oriented and often get hungry during class. I love to be able to give them something to eat to help them refocus on classwork, but it's impossible for me to keep up with their voracious appetites without help. We really do appreciate your kind support!”

  • All's Well That Ends Well!

    Funded Oct 1, 2022

Thank you so much for donating these warmth and care projects to my students. When bad breath or body odor happens when you're a teenager—and believe me, they do happen quite often—it's embarrassing for the smelly person and distracting to those around them. Having these Whisps and deodorant on hand will be really helpful for preventing awkward, smelly moments! I also really appreciate being able to give fidgety students fidgets that can help them focus some energy on movement so they can begin to concentrate on their work. It seems like half of my students have ADHD some days, so these little toys are extremely helpful. Having a snack is a big need for many of my students, so thanks for the fruit snacks. They help keep their blood sugar up and give them some energy when they're hungry and lagging. Thanks again for helping me take care of my students' basic needs!”

Thank you for stopping by my project page! I know there are many worthy classrooms here at DonorsChoose.org and am especially grateful for the support my students and I have and continue to receive from generous donors like you! I am blessed to have a lively 7th and 8th grade technology class where I teach computer applications, technology, and STEAM. I am putting together a makerspace where students can create unique prototypes using both low- and high-tech materials. For example, students could create a "living masterpiece" artwork, where the subject's eyes move back and forth using a Microbit or Raspberry Pi and a servo motor or an interactive monster that is coded to move in response to touch, voice, or movement prompts. I can't wait to see what my students can create with the amazing resources you've helped provide us!
