Let's Learn to Read English!
Funded Sep 14, 2010Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom. I can honestly say that the students love the DK readers library that you donated. They read these books constantly; they are the go-to books every single time students self-select a book to read. The breadth of the nonfiction topics as well as the easy-to-understand levels clearly labeled on the covers make this library really user-friendly for these beginning English language learners. The clearly labeled pictures help expand their vocabulary and the multiple readings help them gain automaticity with those difficult English sight words.
Again, thank you so much for making a difference. My students will be enjoying these books for many years to come. Donations like yours help offset the constant cuts being made to our school programs.”

2nd/3rd Graders in Desperate Need of Equipment
Funded Dec 23, 2008My students will be so excited to hear that we can bring big books back into our classroom! They've been sitting in another room gathering dust all year. They'll also love having a listening center again. It will not only help them enjoy stories, but it's a great way for them to improve their word recognition and literacy skills during center time. The privacy shields will be very useful during the multitude of tests they have to take. Thanks so much for making such a wonderful contribution! We're very grateful for your generosity”

Crazy Science Stuns Third Grade!!!
Funded Jun 5, 2008I am so grateful and excited to have these science materials for the students in my classroom! My class adores science because it offers them a window of discovery into their world. Whether it's studying magnets, learning about weather, or studying the solar system, my students are enthralled with the hands-on learning that studying science allows them. I can't wait for the fall so I can see their faces light up when they see the new science center I'm going to create using these materials!
Thank you so very much for helping the students at Markham learn while doing something they love to do: discover!!!! We are grateful, and will write student thank you when I have a new crop of minds in the fall.
Thanks again!!!!”
