Teaching with Technology
Funded Mar 17, 2017Technology is something that my students don't have readily available at home. Maybe, their older brother has a chromebook, but won't share it because it is a vital connection to his high school. My students' parents have phones but they are difficult to type papers on. My classroom provides the first opportunity for many of my students to use technology as a tool for learning and collaboration. For the first time they have their own email addresses, can share their work with one another, and give and receive feedback. For the first time, they are able to go online and print pictures for reports, and research topics that they find interesting or have questions about. Lots of first in my classroom because of you, and we really appreciate what you have done for us!”

Funded Mar 30, 2017It is the little things that count when it comes to students and learning curriculum. A small picture book can teach a student to be kind, to never give up, and to look at mistakes as learning opportunities. They provide examples that are kid friendly, and relatable for them. The books that you have helped to purchase have taught my students to look at challenges positively and to persevere. The magnets help hold up visual aides that keep them motivated and also provide resources that don't slide down the whiteboard. The charging station organizes our chrome books and keeps them charged. Before, they were spread out all over the room connected to various plugs to charge. It's the little things that count that make our days efficient and exciting.
We appreciate you.”

Funded Mar 30, 2017Without donors, my job would be incredibly difficult and my students would not have the tools that they need in order to be able to keep up with the ever changing technological advances. They wouldn't be prepared for high school or college where using a computer and keyboarding is essential to succeeding. The computers that you have helped purchase have enabled my students to have their own email accounts, email each other, share writing, practice typing, google information, and so many other things. We appreciate you more than you realize. How my students learn is changing because of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Funded Oct 5, 2016The students in my class are beyond thrilled to have Chromebooks in their classroom for the first time ever. They now have a permanent place in the classroom to research, publish, practice their typing, and play math games. The availability of these 5 computers has made learning so much fun for the students. They are able at any time to log onto their GoogleDrive accounts and continue writing and read the feedback other students have given them about what they have written. They no longer have to wait until I check them out from the library. They have changed the way we learn in the classroom. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Kid Requested: Yoga, Soccer, and Games for Fun and Exercise!
Funded Sep 15, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for the amazing gifts you helped us purchase or purchased for us! Soccer is my favorite sport and I have been coaching for years through the local recreational programs. Now I can coach at school because I have my own equipment to get my students learning this amazing game. The students wear the pennies at recess and lunch and play football, soccer, and catch with them. They are seen all over campus teaming up and moving. The yoga mats are truly a treasure and we have teamed up with another class to learn poses and relaxation techniques. We also have a lot of resource books to be able to play new games that we haven't tried yet! Thanks so much! We are having a blast and being healthy!”

Funded Aug 26, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for helping my students to receive the things that they asked for! They love the pedometers and can be seen around campus wearing them, tracking their steps, and trying to outdo each other. They beg to keep them after school as they run on the yard and don't like to see me leaving because they know that they will have to return them to the classroom. Their activity level has increased immensely. The students love to race with the batons and pass them off to one another. They love playing catch with the foam balls as well because they are soft and are excited to start using them with our parachute. Students across this country are sitting for hours at a time, but not my students. They are moving around to keep those steps increasing on their pedometers. Thank you for helping them move, move, move!”

Funded May 24, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your generosity! We have never had a functioning color printer and the students are really excited to be able to print out their art work and pictures for their projects in color. It has made our classroom environment more stimulating, and the color graphic aids really attract the students to use the resources that I have up in the classroom. Their book reports and published writing really looks professional and motivates them to create amazing designs. We really appreciate everything that you have given our class! We have an extra supply of ink as well to keep our designs coming. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 9, 2015Thank you so much for the incredible generosity that you have shown my classroom! The lessons that I deliver have changed immensely. I have complete engagement from my students. They are able to see clearly anything that I write on the iPad because it is projected so largely for them to read. They are able to share their work easily because I can walk around the room and project anything that is in front of them by using the camera on the iPad. They can share math strategies for the entire class to see without getting up. They are motivated to share now because they can write on the iPad which they love to do. Various applications from the iPad can be projected through the Apple TV and this provides for a lot of differentiation for the students. I am able to take pictures of their writing or math problems and teach using their work as examples, because the applications allow me to write over their work. You have provided such an amazing resource to our classroom and I am thankful everyday that I am able to incorporate all this new technology into the classroom.”

Writing From Mentor Texts
Funded Oct 21, 2015Thank you so much for donating to our project! The students love to listen to books that are well written and inspire them to write their own stories. These books span many different genres from realistic fiction, to historical fiction to different types of nonfiction writings. They are exposed to so many styles of writing, as well as how the different authors choose to share knowledge of an animal or event in history.
I take time in the class to read the books aloud to the students and discuss different craft techniques that the author chose to implement in his/her writing. The books are left out for the children to browse independently and reread if they choose to do so. They are repeatedly exposed to text elements as well such as photographs or illustrations, graphs, glossaries, table of contents, and how writing is formatted for enjoyment or learning.
Thank you again for your donation and dedication to my students' learning.”

Teachers Learn to Teach!
Funded Mar 2, 2015Thank you so much for allowing me to use an Ipad and to have resources available to enrich my curriculum. I have been attending language arts trainings and technology trainings and have used the Ipad at each training. The presenters have discussed various apps that will enhance the curriculum and I have been able to use them with students while teaching summer school. I am also incredibly grateful for the curricular resources that you provided for me. The books are interesting and many lessons from them have already been taught. They have provided a more interesting experience for my students and I have learned a lot about working with students with challenging behaviors, language arts strategies, and how to use technology in the classroom. Thank you so much for your generosity!”
