  • Chromebooks for Those in Need

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Thank you for donating to your classroom. Students truly can't survive middle school without access to technology. All the Chromebooks in the classroom are currently out of date and won't operate the current applications that students need each day. For students that forget Chromebooks at home or those that don't have one, these Chromebooks will provide a tool to ensure that they are able to complete their assignments and not fall too far behind. Thank you for helping out my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

  • A Book Brings Distant Students Together

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

My students absolutely loved this story about inclusion, standing up for others, and accepting differences. We read it and discussed it as a whole class. We talked about bullying in school and how we can help those around us that are being bullied. We discussed being an upstander vs. a bystander. We also talked at length about our own experiences feeling isolated and not fitting into school which in turn has strengthened our classroom community. We are working hard to be kind, empathetic and sympathetic toward others. This text provided a lot of lessons and all of the students were engaged and excited to read and discuss each day. Thank you so much for considering our classroom!”

  • Teaching Needs To Be Culturally Responsive

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Wow! This project has impacted my own personal education as a teacher and has also affected my students and their knowledge immensely. My library in the classroom is more culturally responsive. Students have mirrors when they pick up books rather than windows. They have good stories that uplift rather than stories with White characters and White perspectives. I have learned a lot about racism, being a culturally relevant educator, and I have explored my own biases. My classroom is a more welcoming environment for all of my learners. They feel accepted and included because I am very intentional to include all cultures, languages, and experiences that my diverse students are. Thank you so much because I have many students that were invisible and they are now seen.”

  • Calming Area

    Funded Jan 5, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this classroom project! I have students that need a space, resources, tools and practices that help them to calm down, feel calm, and remain calm so that they can learn. The books, coloring books, pencils, chairs, chair bands, and mindfulness and yoga cards have helped my students immensely. They have a place to go, tools to use, and it is normalized in the classroom because there is access for all of them and students that need these tools are not highlighted. Students feel calmer, happier, and they are able to calm themselves to learn and remain happy and accepted.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

  • Computers Make Distance Learning Closer to Home

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you for donating at a time where it is difficult to give money away! I appreciate you for choosing my classroom to donate to and to ensure that students keep learning. The capacity of this computer will keep me teaching smoothly without any hiccups and that is everything. Stay safe and stay healthy!”

  • iPad Stands for I Participate and Design!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

Thank you so much for contributing to our class IPad and for providing us with an essential technological resource. The students use it to create slideshows, Kahoots, and to access learning apps. I am able to use it to project whatever is on the screen to the students. I am also able to hover it over in camera mode to share students' work with the whole class. I can even take pictures of work that the students have completed as well, and project that for the entire class.

The students have never used a stylus to draw or write on an iPad and the experience has been incredible for them. It is exciting to think that one piece of technology that you provided for us can teach my students multiple ways to demonstrate learning, access tools to enhance their learning, and engage them and excite them to learn. We are very grateful!”

  • Student Inspired Art and Gift Giving

    Funded Sep 27, 2019

Thank you so, so much for helping to purchase the Cricut and the supplies that will enable my students to create amazing projects using paper. They have already been researching what they can do with this incredible cutting machine and they are so excited to begin. With the holidays coming, they will be able to create decorations, make gifts, and design projects that will enable them to expand their creativity.

I will be able to create amazing bulletin boards and learning tools for the students to refer to when they are learning. I will also be able to create stickers with their names on them and personalize items for them.

We are excited to use this machine and share with the other teachers and students at the school!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

Our school is a small public school with students from many different countries around the world, with varied life experiences. Being small is an advantage, in which all the students know each other well, work together and take care of each other. Parents help in the classroom and the community spirit flourishes. Students share books with one another and discuss what they read in literature circles. Some students have the means to have books at home and others go to the library to get their books. The classroom library, however small it is, is open for students to take books home or to keep in their desks to read when time allows. There are students in the class who haven't discovered how fun and engaging books can be. Books at their grade level are sometimes a daunting task to read while books at lower grade levels don't provide enough detail to keep them engaged. They tend to gravitate to easier books because of the large print and simplistic vocabulary but soon they become bored.
