  • Getting Ready For Fall Season Now!

    Funded Aug 2, 2019

Thank you for supporting the Bulldogs basketball program at JHS 189. The goal with this program is provide our student-athletes with the best experience possible. Many of these students have never played on an organized sports team before. Likewise they have never had access to good equipment for practice. Your donation allows to create an environment of growth, learning and hope. The message we try to send out student-athletes is not about where you start, but where you finish and how you get there. WE dedicate this season to all of you and your families.”

  • Countdown To Football Season 2019!

    Funded Jan 8, 2019

Happy New Year! The donations you provided have given our students a great gift to start the new year! This school a group of our children decided to put together a presentation to start up a flag football team. Their hard work paid off! The principal was so impressed by this initiative she was able to find money for the registration fee. That meant we had to get the equipment for game play. That brings us to you, the donor. Your donations have made this dream possible. The students are looking forward to the chance to play and win in your honor! Thank you for helping me to them.”

  • Help Us Keep The Score Up!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you for this generous donation. The start of our basketball season is still 1 month away, but during our first practice, our original scoreboard decided to stop working. Our school doesn't have the resources to have a large scoreboard set up, like other schools may have. The goal of this program is to provide our student athletes with the best experience possible. A big part part of that experience is having an actual scoreboard with a horn. I wish you could see what a difference it makes to watch them when they have these tools for success. The Bulldogs of JHS 189 thank you and dedicate this season to you.”

  • Help These Birdies Grow Wings And Fly!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for this donation. Our school has a large population who view badminton as a way of life. The physical education department at our school wanted to bring this way of life in the gym classroom. You donation allowed us to bring a rackets and birdies, along with pop up nets to facilitate a classroom of 90-95.

When we had our students bring the boxes in, they had no clue what was inside. After allowing them to open the boxes up, the students let out a big roar in excitement. hey immediately took the rackets out and started to play.

The plan is to add a new unit that focuses on badminton skills and drills, with the hope of getting a team started in the school. This was all due to your generosity.”

  • Bringing The Old School Back With Backyard Games

    Funded Feb 4, 2018

We wish to thank you for your donations. Our students are accustomed to having a backyard, let alone access to backyard games. Part of our mission was to use these games to teach the kids how important creativity is having fun. Many of these games were made from the minds of bored youngsters, then brought to life as they became adults.

The students were a bit surprised, similar to the moment human kind first encountered fire. But after the initial moment of discovery, they jumped in and began to let the juices of youth flow free. To take things one step further, we infused these games into our basketball unit, creating new lead up games such a connect four basketball. Thank you for helping us create a better environment for teaching.”

    Funded Dec 25, 2017

Thank you for your wonderful donations. My students will be able to sue these gifts to practice and develop the skills necessary to try and compete in a tennis match in the near future. Over the past two days students have been able to use the equipment to work on their tennis skills, as well as look the part to of tennis player.

The students had grins as wide as the grand canyon. They did not expect this gift coming their. They were very appreciative of the equipment and support you have provided them. I want thank you on behalf of the students here at our school, you have made their journey a great ride.”

  • Time For Our Bulldogs to Shine!

    Funded Aug 25, 2017

Thank you for donations. You have been able to fund the biggest smiles on the planet. After the first practice of the season I showed the team their new uniforms. They were excited beyond belief. They had no idea that I was going to try and present them with new uniforms this season.

The pictures speak for themselves. They are looking forward to wearing their school pride throughout the season. Many of them want to dedicate their season to the donors who made this possible.

Our goal now is to prove that the Bulldogs are going to look good on the court, while playing as good as they look. Thank you for allowing my team the opportunity to represent their school with these uniforms. I will dedicate our first win to the donors who made this dream possible. GO BULLDOGS!!!!!”

  • All Star Players Need All Star Awards!

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

During the school year the physical education department likes to creates opportunities for students to showcase the skills they have learned. We do not have a state test for the students to demonstrate their abilities in the sport arena. This is where all star weeks comes into play. We set up all star week for basketball and volleyball. Normally we hand out treats the participants and paper certificates to the winners. During last years event we overheard some students saying wouldn't it be cool to get an actual award you could keep and show off? Brainstorm.

We decided this year would be the year that we tried to secure some type of awards for the student to use this year. Thanks to your donation we were able to do just that. Seeing the students with such huge smiles as they received their medals was a joy I cannot really describe. The JHS 189 family thanks you once more for allowing us to create that kind of moment that our students can always cherish.”

  • Help Our AV Club Bring The News!

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

I wanted to take this time to thank you for funding our AV project. Many of our students do not have the means to use or learn how to use the technology many take for granted. Through this project our students will be able to use the camera, tripod, chromebook, memory cards and display to document the many events we try to stage throughout the course of the school year.

The look on their eyes was priceless. The camera is not one they are used to seeing, let alone using. The chromebook was also a treat to use, since they are all familiar with gmail and google searches. They feel empowered with the technology you help provide them. We can look forward to many fun moments being created thanks to your donations.”

    Mr. Elias

  • Make a Basketball Dream Become Reality!

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

    Dear Donors,

I am very grateful for your donations to our basketball team. During the last two seasons we have had to practice with some very sub standard equipment. This has made the players frown upon participating in practice and lunch time tournaments. Thanks to your donations the players on the team have never felt better. After their first practice with the new basketballs and shot clock they could not stop talking in the hallways and locker room about their prospects for this season. I hope you understand how something so simple can enrich a student/player's life. It meant a lot to these students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Elias

Our basketball team must use sub-standard basketball equipment for practice and warm up drills before games. When we travel to other schools we have old basketballs for warmups, a mesh bag to transport our equipment. We have the same beat up basketballs for practice and team shoot arounds. During our home games we don't have a proper scoreboard to keep track of stats (which can lead to difficulty keeping records for our team). Our goal is to provide out team with everything that a higher income school has access to. There is not a lot of opportunity at our school for our students to practice and play with the best of equipment. Our basketball team must use sub-standard basketball equipment for practice and warm up drills before games. Our goal is to provide our student-athletes with the tools necessary to be competitive and the belief that no matter where you start you can always finish first!
