  • Making Music in a Transitional Kindergarten

    Funded Feb 21, 2013

Many thanks for your contributions! I cannot fully describe the excitement my students showed as I opened the boxes full of instruments. They were thrilled and eager to begin playing the xylophones, rhythm sticks and other instruments from around the world.

Music is an important part of learning. My students have been playing the instruments and developing skills in music and other areas that help support their learning in various academic areas. Above all, they have had the opportunity to enjoy learning and be creative as they create their own music.

Once again, I thank you for your generosity. Without your support, my students would not have the opportunity to explore musical instruments.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Garcia

  • Learning With Art

    Funded Jan 26, 2013

Thank you so much! I cannot fully describe the excitement my students showed when they saw all the art material we received. They were excited when they saw the variety of colors of construction paper, beads and shiny gems.

My students were able to create animals with cut construction paper that had been stamped with the sponges to create different textures. They created a beautiful Mother's Day card with the construction paper and collage rhinestones. They have been able to use the space-saving drying rack for other art projects.

My students have had an opportunity to expand their learning through art and to tap into their creativity. Due to budget cuts, our school had run out of money to purchase such materials that foster creative learning. Thanks to your donations, my students can enhance their learning through art.”

    Mrs. Garcia

  • Stop! No Bullying Allowed! Part 2

    Funded Mar 15, 2012

Many thanks for your incredible support! Without contributors like you, my students would not have the opportunity to enjoy invaluable resources in the classroom.

We have read all the literature books about bullying and my students continue to read through them when they finish their work. They understand what a bully is and can help others identify a bully. They have learned strategies for dealing with a bully. Our classroom is a NO BULLY ZONE and my students are helping in making sure that their playground is also a NO BULLY ZONE. Now it is the end of the year, but these wonderful books will be used by new students year after year.

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Many thanks for your help! In times of budget crisis, the support from caring individuals and organizations is invaluable. ”

  • Extra! Extra! iPods Enhance Learning!

    Funded Jan 17, 2012

Thank you for supporting our classroom project! Without your help, my students would not have the opportunity to use the newest technology.

My students have been playing with the iPods and learning about letters, words and numbers. They enjoy listening to the the interactive audio books like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I have transferred the music from my scratched CD's onto the iPod. Now we listen to music without any technical difficulties. Lessons run smoothly, time is not wasted and my students are engaged in learning. And every year, a new group of students will be able to experience learning in an engaging way.

I could not thank you enough for your generosity! It is because of caring people like you that children in our schools are given invaluable opportunities to enhance their lives. Thank you!”

  • Stop! No Bullying Allowed!

    Funded Jan 8, 2012

I cannot thank you enough for your generous support to our project! With the literature you funded, I have been teaching my students about bullying. They can describe who a bully is and what a bully does. They have learned what to do when confronted with a bully and when a friend is being hurt. They love to share and reread stories like Don't Be a Bully, Billy. They have also created posters showing what to say to a bully. Our classroom is a "No Bully Zone!"

Learning through engaging literature is one of the best ways for young learners to gain valuable skills. Thanks to your contributions, my students are learning life skills that they will continue to use after they leave my kindergarten classroom. They are helping to create a "No Bully Zone" in our school.”

  • Cozy Reading = More Reading Part 2

    Funded Dec 29, 2011

Thank you for your generous contribution to our project! My students are now enjoying a cozy library corner where they sit comfortably to read their favorite books. They sit on the chairs and lean back to enjoy the wonders of reading. They all look forward to their turn at the library. They are also developing good reading habits like reading silently in the library. They respect their friends by being quiet. Even my most active student sits quietly for long periods as he reads on the cozy chair!

Without donors like you, my students would not be able to experience reading in a cozy place! Many thanks to you for giving my students this wonderful opportunity!”

Thank you for your generous donation! My students have been introduced to a variety of instruments such as rhythms sticks, tambourine and triangle. They are learning to keep the beat with the rhythm sticks, read simple musical notes to play a melody and distinguish different instrument sounds. They are learning how important it is to focus, listen and work together to create music. My students are engaged, having fun and learning many skills through music!

  • Science Fun Time!

    Funded Dec 9, 2011

Many thanks for your generosity! You helped fund great educational and fun science activities for my kindergarten students. My students have been able to learn about science topics such as nutritious foods to eat, the life cycle of animals, plants, the seasons and magnetism through the learning games. They are able to connect their learning from lessons and literature to the science games. Learning in a fun way is engaging and has motivated my students to be curious about science.

We are currently undergoing constant budget cuts in education. Thanks to caring people like you, my students have gained valuable learning experiences from these games which otherwise I would not have been able to purchase.

  • Building Literacy Through Storytelling Part 2

    Funded Mar 4, 2011

Thank you very much for helping us fund our project! We greatly appreciate your support!

With the new books you helped purchase, my students now have the opportunity to read engaging books. These are vibrant, colorfully illustrated and wonderfully written books that are classics. You have helped expose them to amazing literature.

They have the opportunity to read the books over and over and retell the story with the use of the accompanying felt characters. As a result, my students have increased their language, reading and storytelling skills. This in turn has improved their writing skills. They are able to retell a story with details and write simple sentences about a story read. Storytelling is an important skill for future success.”
