Our school population is based in a low socioeconomic area. Our school provides 85%+ free/reduced lunch. We have many programs set up to help with remedial reading and math. As a teacher, I sometimes feel like I'm skipping over the students who don't need the extra help in order to try to make everyone successful. This summer program allows students who don't require the remedial summer programs to gain exposure to fun technology. My goal is to show them what is out there for them if they continue to work hard and succeed at school. Most students can work a cell phone. I want students who can eventually build a cell phone. This club is step one in their journey.
