  • What Can You Bring to the TABLE?

    Funded May 5, 2021

We are truly grateful for the donations that made it possible for us to have an outside workspace. Working around the greenhouse in our raised beds and compost pile is hard work and the table assisted in many tasks!

The students were so excited when they opened the boxes and found the table. They immediately wanted to put it together. Once the assembly process was complete, they enjoyed a cold treat sitting around the table. The smiles on their faces were priceless.

The table has been used since its arrival and even over the summer. We have a summer "camp" program that completed some activities in the greenhouse area on some afternoons. The table and umbrella shade will continue to be used again and again...all thanks to you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Davenport

  • A Long Walk to Global Perspectives

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for your contributions to our classroom! Our students absolutely loved the book. Watching their faces as they read about Salva and Nya was inspiring. The book engaged their excitement about reading and learning about other cultures.

We were able to use the book as a springboard to make culturally connections to children around the world. We played games and activities indicative of Sudanese children and studied pictures of children around the world during their journey to school.

After the conclusion of the book, we were able to map out Salva's journey and learn more about the terrain and geographical features of several countries in Africa. We also learned about Salva's current work drilling wells in Sudan.

Throughout our reading students have talked about ways that they can take action and make a difference. We are proud of how invested they have become. Your generous contributions made these learning opportunities come to life. Thank you for the impact you have made in the lives of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Davenport

My students come from an array of social, cultural and economic backgrounds. 54% of my students come from minority backgrounds and more than 50% of them qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Their diverse background means that they don't all come to the classroom with the same knowledge and experiences. It is my job to ensure that all my students, regardless of their background, engage in enriching, educational experiences while in my classroom.
