Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for your contributions to our classroom! Our students absolutely loved the book. Watching their faces as they read about Salva and Nya was inspiring. The book engaged their excitement about reading and learning about other cultures.
We were able to use the book as a springboard to make culturally connections to children around the world. We played games and activities indicative of Sudanese children and studied pictures of children around the world during their journey to school.
After the conclusion of the book, we were able to map out Salva's journey and learn more about the terrain and geographical features of several countries in Africa. We also learned about Salva's current work drilling wells in Sudan.
Throughout our reading students have talked about ways that they can take action and make a difference. We are proud of how invested they have become. Your generous contributions made these learning opportunities come to life. Thank you for the impact you have made in the lives of our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davenport
