    Funded Oct 5, 2020

Thank you so much for helping to fund this technology for my students. This technology will allow the students to practice using remote learning tools from inside the classroom before having to use it at home. They will be able to come familiar with the tools and activities with their regular staff.”

  • Interactive Learning for Active Kids!

    Funded Apr 18, 2018

My students and I are beyond grateful for your generous gift to our classroom. These hands on materials have helped to better engage the students in their learning while also making their work fun. The sentence starters have helped my students brainstorm and further express themselves in writing. The addition and subtraction number locks have allowed continued learning on computation skill in a more interactive way. Movement is a vital piece of my students' day and allows them to focus on their work. The chair kick bands have been a great tool to allow them to continue learning while gaining sensory input.”

  • Feeling Grounded with Weighted Animals

    Funded Jan 10, 2018

First, thank you so much for your generosity and thinking of my students. The weighted blankets and weighted stuffed animals have helped them tremendously already! These items are used daily by all students during times of stress to help them cope and to feel calm. Students have learned to ask for either the blanket or the animals themselves when they feel that they need them. Some students will complete work at the table with the animal laying on their lap or with the blanket draped over their shoulders. The students were beyond excited when everything arrived. They each gave the animals a name! We are now the proud caretakers of Peanut the Elephant, Squirt the Turtle, Biscuit the Dog, and Oreo the Dalmatian. These resources have been so useful in helping my students to learn coping skills and to regulate their bodies and emotions.

We are so grateful for all of the donors that chose to support our classroom! Thank you again for thinking of my students and helping my staff and I provide a more comforting and calming learning environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bettencourt

Weighted blankets and weighted stuffed animals allow my students to feel more grounded in their own bodies, provide comfort during anxious or stressful times and provide the pressure and sensory input that they constantly seek throughout the day. Self-Regulation of emotions is an everyday part of our curriculum. We help the students to understand their emotions, express them appropriately and learn to cope during difficult times. Having weighted blankets and weighted stuffed animals allows the students to feel calm and can help to decrease the length emotional and behavior episodes while allowing the students to feel safe and secure within themselves.
