Almost There!
Funded Sep 18, 2024Your generous contribution has made our classroom the best place for my Resource Students to work and learn. Thank you so much! We are now able to have the supports in place we needed to help us meet our academic goals. Our classroom is comfortable and accessible so that we can stay calm and focused. We love using our new clipboards to work on our comfortable classroom rug. We also love that Ms. Wilson has a cart to sit her laptop on so that she can show us how to work through our Math or write our essays. We are excited to build with our magnetic shapes when we have a brain break. And sometimes, we love it when Ms. Wilson sings to the music we dance around the room to when we have that special brain break. She is so funny!
Thank you again for helping us by donating to make all of this possible for us. We are really doing well in her class and are getting good grades because we have these supplies.”

Ms. Wilson

Funded Oct 19, 2023I can never thank you enough for your generous donation which helped my students tremendously! They love the books and reading spaces we have in our classroom. They are always sitting on the rug, even to complete their class assignments because it calms them and allows them to focus in a more relaxed way than in traditional chairs and tables/desks.
Visitors come in and they always comment on how cozy and comfortable our classroom looks and we couldn't have done it without you!
You have helped me create a bond and a connection with my students in a way I would not have been able to without these spaces and materials.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
My students thank you as well!
Your donation and gift creates daily reminders for us that learning is important and that we are able to achieve great things when we have space and room to think and focus.”

Funded Dec 31, 2021Thank you so very much for your generous funding for my project. You helped my students obtain the novels they needed. We spent 5 weeks learning about the integration of Central H.S. in Little Rock, Arkansas. They novels were an integral part of that unit and vital to helping my students learn about that first integration leading the way for us all to be able to learn together in our diverse class today.
I strongly believe in teaching the importance of History, especially difficult history such as segregation and inequality so that this generation of students can ensure those two things fade until they are gone and forgotten.
These copies of "Warriors Don't Cry!" was a wonderful read and my students really appreciated the lesson, as well as the gift of the novel.
Without your generous support, we never would have been able to learn about these brave young students, Melba Pattillo Beals, specifically.
Thank you again from my 8th grade students and me.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wilson
U.S. History is Our History!
Funded Sep 24, 2021I can never thank you so much for all of the materials you funded for my students! They were so excited when our boxes arrived. When they saw the notebooks, pens, pencils, coloring materials and notebooks, they were even more excited. The photos attached show my notebook cover as an example and the notes & foldables that I have shown them how to take as we move through our lessons.
We will continue to use the materials you so generously provided to help us and to keep our notebooks as a reference tool we can refer back to when they are in H.S. and have to revisit U.S. History.
Thank you again for providing the materials so that my students and their parents don't have to worry about not being able to afford them. Now, my students are able to focus on their studies and learning.”

Funded Jun 22, 2019Thank you so very much for helping my students get and use the supplies they need to maintain their interactive notebooks for class!
The manila paper and coloring tools help them create colorful posters that we call visual aids which helps them see small chunks of information and associate it with a picture to help them better remember their facts.
Your funding of coloring supplies, scissors and glue help them create notes that are kept in their notebooks in graphic organizers to again, help them have visuals connected to their notes to help them remember what they are learning and help them study at a glance.
My students perform better in class, participate and share more of their ideas, and get higher scores on tests all because of your helping me give them the tools and strategies they need to succeed.
Learning has become fun again in my classroom and it's a wonderful and rewarding sight to see!
Thank you so very much for helping me to fund my project! I can not thank you enough for helping my students succeed!”

Funded Dec 9, 2018Thank you so very much for funding our UNICEF Kid power bands! You are helping my students stay fit and active by tracking their steps daily on the bands. In addition to helping my class, you are also helping us join with UNICEF by preparing RUTF food packets to help feed undernourished/malnourished children around the world. My class and I are so excited to be able to help others, as we keep ourselves fit as well!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity! My students will have the invaluable gift of health - which they can continue to track, even after the program ends for this school year. They can influence their peers and family by showing them how many steps they make daily. They also have that wonderful feeling of doing something for others - feeding children in need - that will keep their morale up as well. I wish you could see how excited they are when they come to school and compare their daily steps taken, or hear how many RUTF packets we have earned with our steps. Their smiles literally light up their faces and we want to thank you for that!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so very much for funding our project! My students were really excited to explore the artifacts bags for each group represented at Colonial Williamsburg, as well as read the fun and interesting books! They took their time examining and discussing the items in each bag that represented the Slave, Native-American Bandolier and lady.
It gave them first-hand experience and immersed them in each person's "shoes" as they shared what life may have been like for each based upon the items.
The enrichment texts also gave them good sources of information since we have an assortment of fiction and non-fiction titles. All of this educational experience is priceless and invaluable. They allow the students to see and read and touch what the people lived in 18th century Williamsburg in a way, no textbook ever could.
Now, as we proceed with our lessons and the students write about them, they will have the knowledge that these materials gave them at their disposal and the have a much better understanding and appreciation of the people we are studying.
These materials literally brought our unit on Colonial America alive and I can never thank you enough for that!”

Funded Nov 23, 2016Thank you so very much for funding our cozy Reading nook materials! My students spend as much time as possible sitting in the nook and reading. My students were so very surprised and happy when they saw the new space created just so they could read.
Every morning, after completing their daily ELA/Reading assignments, they quietly go to the reading nook and read either alone, or share reading with a friend. I think if they could they would literally spend the whole day there. As you can see in the photos, there are two pillows but that doesn't stop 4 or more from wanting to sit and read there, even without a pillow for them.
Thank you again for helping me create this comfortable little space for my students. They love our little nook and so do I!”

Crenshaw for Reading!
Funded Feb 13, 2016I can not thank you enough for your generous donation which allowed us to learn from Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate. My students' love for this book far exceeded my expectations. We have learned many literary devices from this text such as characterization, hyperbole, metaphor/simile, idioms and more. My students are better equipped now to see how important these devices are to reading. They have laughed at the antics of Crenshaw and Jackson's family as they face the very serious and realistic problems of financial hardship and homelessness. My students have connected with the story and the characters and are empathetic to these struggles as many of them have also experienced this in their own families.
Thank you again for bringing this valuable resource and learning tool into our classroom. It is a memory that my students and I will carry beyond the end of this school year!”

Ms. Wilson
Mad for Maniac Magee!
Funded Jan 1, 2015My students absolutely LOVE Maniac Magee! We are having great discussions about homelessness, Racism, prejudice and the importance of people being kind and doing what is right. In addition to the discussions about social awareness, we are going in depth with the reading and working on skills such as Conflict, Figurative Language and Imagery. This novel is such a valuable resource and tool in so many different ways. There aren't many books that appeal to Fifth Graders and are so full of learning opportunities as well. Thank goodness for Jerry Spinelli and you, for helping me expose my class to more books that teach valuable skills and lessons, while also being enjoyable and memorable!
I love seeing how enthusiastic my students are about reading the novel, going on to the next chapter, and the next, to find out what else Jeffrey(Maniac) is going to do or experience. They are also becoming very adept at foreshadowing, or predicting, as well as identifying character traits about main characters.
My teaching is much more enriched, while using this novel because we have meaningful class discussions about helping others and relating this story to Dr. King and the importance of judging others on character and not color or race. Being kind and helping others is also being reinforced in this novel, which helps our efforts to prevent bullying here at school.
My students also utilize their imaginations to reinforce their ability to create images of what they "see" as they read. This skill is what you see in some of the pictures I posted.
I can not thank you enough for helping me put this valuable and great novel into the hands of my students. I can not express my joy that they are truly learning from and enjoying this novel even more than I hoped they would. Thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wilson
