  • Virtual Resources to Succeed!

    Funded Feb 13, 2021

Teaching virtually was very challenging, but thanks to your donations I was able to create lessons in half the time that it would normally take me. The lessons were meaningful, fun, and strategically targeted areas for growth.

The virtual resources purchased helped my students learn in a new way. I was able to get different reading level passages that helped my students with reading comprehension. I was also able to create different groups for them to target the area where they needed the most help. Thank you for your continued support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cavitt

  • Packets for Remote Learning

    Funded May 14, 2020

My students were very excited to see me, and to receive a remote learning packet. All of my students showed up at different times and we avoided close proximity by staying 6 feet apart. They got their packet from the table and said hello.

Although I couldn't see their smiles, I still saw the happiness in their eyes. All of their parents were very grateful to have something on paper for their kids to do. The students were very excited to get an assignment they could touch and write on with an actual pencil.”

  • 21st Century Skills!

    Funded Oct 1, 2019

The students have been exploring with the new Chromebook, and are very excited when they get a turn. They have been reading on Amplify Reading, and Razkids. They have also been practicing their typing skills. Learning how to place each finger on the correct letter key is very challenging for them, but they don't give up. They are having fun with addition and subtraction math games, and are learning to code.

Right now we are learning about different types of animals and their habitats. Needless to say, the Chromebook has been very handy to research the animal of their choice. They are all eager to find out more about their favorite animal. Thank you so much for making all these activities possible.”

  • Saving Our Work!

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

My students have been using the folders to keep their ongoing writing. They have started to write small moments in both English and Spanish. The folders are perfect because in one pocket they keep all their English writing, and on the other pocket they keep their Spanish.

Writers Workshop is a time where they can reread, edit, and revise their writing throughout the week. These folders keep these ongoing writing in one place and are easy to access when needed.

I have also used the laminating pouches to laminate a strategies list they can use when they read, or write. I taped it to their desk so that they can use it thought the day. The fact that is laminated makes it durable for the whole year. Tank you so much for getting my students' organization needs for a successful beginning of the year!”

  • Organized Learners!

    Funded May 3, 2019

Your donation has truly made a difference in our classroom. We have made booklets of our work, instead of having sheets by themselves. These booklets make our work organized and presentable for our loved ones. The students were very excited to see their work completed all in one place. One of them said, "I can't wait to show my work to my mom!"

By having all the pages together they were able to go back and see their past work and review past skills. When parents came to our class and saw their booklets they had a big smile on their face and their hugged their son or daughter. Thank you once again for making such a big difference in the life of my students.”

  • Reading For All

    Funded Mar 10, 2019

My students are enjoying listening to the books on CD's that were donated. I could see that they are fully into the stories once they start listening. Everyone, is eager to get their turn. The stories are very exciting to listen to. After they listen, they want to tell me all about the story they have followed along and say, "Can I listen to another one please!" The listening center is a place where they can enjoy books for fun and the joy of reading. All the students no matter what reading levels they are in, can enjoy the books.”

  • Technology for Education

    Funded May 11, 2018

Thank you so much for all your generous donations! My students have been having fun while learning. They have been reading books online in English and Spanish. Then, they take comprehension quizzes after each reading. The quizzes are important because they let me know who needs further help with reading comprehension. They also have been playing math games, practicing spelling words, coding, and doing research with the iPads. They love that they get to be in charge of what they are learning. I get to see the happy dance they make when they get something right. I have also observed that they are challenging themselves and not giving up when a game like coding is challenging. They say, "I can do it! I'm going to try again." Thank you so much for making such a huge difference in the lives of my students and on the future ones to come.”

I have wonderful students that are eager to learn. They enjoy reading, math and writing. They also enjoy computer lab, and coding. I have 14 girls and 8 boys. We are a Bilingual Classroom. The students are learning how to read and write in Spanish and English. Twelve of my students are English language Learners with their primary language being Spanish. Eight are English native speakers that are learning Spanish for the first time. This dynamic makes our classroom an interesting and fun place to learn. We are a low income school. We do fundraising to take them to interesting, educational and fun field trips. Besides academics, they have dance class where they are learning different dances from other countries. We are currently learning the Chinese Dragon dance. We are also learning to sing traditional children Spanish songs. Furthermore, we are learning global studies with our focus on North America.
