Preschool Percussionists: We Can Keep the Beat!
Funded Jan 24, 2024Thank you so much for your donations to our project, enabling us to get new rhythm instruments. The drums were especially a hit, as we only had a couple of drums before, and they were always fought over. Now, the only fight is who gets the purple ones... It was also nice to get new triangles and new rhythm sticks, as both of those instruments were getting older, and we only had a few triangles.
We have experimented with all of the rhythm instruments, and incorporated all of them into our instrument collection, and the children play with them every week - sometimes every day. It is nice to hear music in the classroom, and the children don't realize that they are learning through rhythm.

Preschool Pals: Weighted Puppies to Make a Peaceful Preschool
Funded Oct 11, 2023Thank you so much for your donations to my weighted puppies project. Your donation was able to provide weighted puppies for my classroom as well as an additional classroom. In my classroom, the puppies went into my calm corner, and are used as a calming tool when my children need something to hold when they are upset or frustrated. Weighted objects help children center themselves, and are one way to help children calm themselves down. We use other weighted objects too, such as a weighted blanket, and weighted lap pads.
The children have been happy to see the puppies in the calm corner, and are pleased to use them as a calming tool. They enjoy them, and like to use them. They have been a useful addition to my classroom. Thank you so much for your support.”

Funded Jan 9, 2024Thank you so much for your donation of hats, kleenex, and toothbrushing supplies for our classroom. We are using the toothbrushing supplies and kleenex daily. The hats came in great use this winter, and we have a second set to give out next year as well. We gave ourselves enough toothbrushing and kleenex supplies to keep us set up for quite a while, and so we're set up for the remainder of this year, as well as into next year also.
The children love to brush their teeth, and any day we miss it for any reason, they ask us why we aren't brushing our teeth. And any time we replace their toothbrushes, they are so excited for the new brushes to come out.
With the changing weather in our state, the Kleenex is well needed, and we have gone through several boxes in the case we ordered. Hopefully that case will last us the remainder of the school year however, and I won't have to order a new one.
In addition, the children were so excited to get the hats and gloves. We had just enough pink and purple to give all of our girls this year a pink and purple one, and the boys got to choose their own color. Next year, we will give out the remainder of the colors - no more pinks to choose from!

Funded Aug 31, 2023Thank you so much for your donations to my rhythmic music project. Prior to recieving this CD set, I only had one set of CDs that held wordless music, which is so important for music and movement with young children. Young children need to be able to move to music without instructions telling them how to move, so they can make their own choices about how to move. This set of CDs is perfect for this kind of movement.
The children have enjoyed moving to the music, and making the choice of which CD to choose each time we do a new large group time. This large set has made a huge variety to our music, and made it a new experience every time, instead of the same 10 songs over and over again.

Funded Aug 31, 2023Thank you so much for supporting our school project for fidgets. We were immediately able to pass them out to all the teachers in the school and get them into the hands of the students. Unfortunately, they got passed out so quickly, that I only got a few pictures, but they were thoroughly enjoyed!
The children have appreciated the chance to use the fidgets in class, and the teachers have also used the fidgets as part of our school reward system, giving them as bucket filler prizes for children who show caring, compassion, and other positive behavior traits.

Funded Aug 23, 2023Thank you so much for funding my project for blankets and laundry detergent supplies. In the past, I was relying on parents supplying blankets for the children, and I was using my own supplies for washing school sheets. When children would forget their blankets, or they would not get washed, I would have to supply blankets, and wash them myself, using my supplies.
Now, with the donated supplies, I am saving my money on detergent (and eventually the school will get a washer, so I will save that money as well), and the children don't have to rely on their parents to get blankets from home. In addition, all the blankets are the same, so there is no pain over someone having a blanket design that is better than another design. The blankets are washed regularly, and I can ensure that they are clean and kept up.

Funded Sep 29, 2023Thank you so much for giving me these books to study and learn from. I don't have a lot of pictures of student work, especially because so much of what I have done with them involves the student's names, but I have enjoyed reading them, and will continue to learn so much more from reading these books and using them to support my curriculum.
I have gotten several great ideas from both the LetterLinks book and the Fee Fi Phonemic Awareness books that I have already used in the classroom, including labeling my room and singing songs with the children that use phonemic awareness ideas.

A New Bike Garage - Part 2
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my bigger bike garage project. It was so nice to get the big bike garage that fit 4 of our bikes into it, so that we can park the majority of our bikes into one garage, and do one easy in and out with the bikes, instead of trekking them accross the playground to the shed, or trying to squeeze them into the smaller sheds.
The children were so excited when we finally got the shed put together, and started using the bikes in the late fall. They will get great use out of the shed in the spring, and are already pretty self-sufficient with putting the bikes in and out of the shed.

Funded Jul 17, 2023Thank you so much for funding my supply project. Getting consumable supplies is so important at the beginning of each school year. This year, this project was even more successful, because an unavailable project turned into even more supplies, as I found a cheaper resource! So dry erase crayons turned into dry erase crayons, plus erasers, markers, and a social emotional kit. That, plus the addition of the glue and glue pots, and the triangular crayons, made my children all set for the beginning of the year. The triangular crayons, dry erase crayons, and the social emotional kit are being used right now. The glue and glue pots are being introduced, and will be used throughout the year. These materials are so important in preschool, and make the year go smoothly. Thank you again for your support.”

Funded Apr 3, 2023Thank you so much for funding my backpacks for learning project. These backpacks are a gift to the students at the end of the year, so that they can continue to work and learn in the summer before they go to kindergarten. I have given out these backpacks for 2 or 3 years now, and the children love to receive them - they are so excited when we tell them that the backpack is theirs now.
We were visiting houses on our final home visit conference this week, so we passed out the backpacks on our home visit. Each child was so excited to receive the backpacks and see all the materials in them. They were particularly excited for the foam letters and the number cards, and even more for the journal, so they could write their own stories.
In the future, I expect I will create this project again, so the children can continue to take these home each summer. Thank you again for your support.”
