Preschool Perceptions: Art in the Early Years
Funded Jan 7, 2015I appreciate your donations so much! It is now nearing the end of the school year, and the children have enjoyed using the art materials very much. It has been hard to collect thank yous, because they want to take home all of their projects!
They were so excited to open up the "new materials" boxes - I think they were almost more excited about the boxes than what was inside, until they saw the materials. Then, they wanted to see all of the new materials.
The tempera cake paints were a tremendous hit - the children loved seeing the colors on the paper so brightly. The markers and dry erase markers were well used in our writing and art areas, and the other materials have also been well used. The paper was well appreciated - it is tremendous having the choice of which color to use, and knowing that we have paper for quite a while is nice also.
These materials will impact my children for a couple of years, as it will take a while to use up all of them, but it has impacted this year's class greatly. This year's class is producing advanced art drawings - I have never seen children grow this much in the preschool year. I know that it is, in part, due to the many new materials we were able to get this year.
Again, thank you so very much. My children greatly appreciate your donation to our classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cathy
Metamorphosis: From Tadpole to Frog - Learning in Preschool
Funded Sep 23, 2014I appreciate you so much for funding my project and allowing me to fill my aquarium with tadpoles again. The children enjoy watching the tadpoles grow so much, and have talked about the metamorphosis from tadpole to frog. Some of my children's comments were, "First it was a tadpole, and now it's a frog." "It grew legs." "It swims in the water." "It's not a tadpole anymore."
Seeing this real-life transformation is new to my children, and it's a chance for them to truly understand how an organism changes as it grows. We've been able to extend this science lesson into literacy, writing, art, and mathematics lessons. Without your donation, my children would have only received this information from photos and books, and could not watch the transformation in real life.
Again, I thank you so much for your donation. You have transformed my classroom, and through that, you have transformed my children's lives.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cathy
iPads for iPreschoolers! Technology for the Young
Funded Sep 23, 2014My students and I have so enjoyed using the iPads we received due to your donation. Almost every day, someone will ask me, "Can I get on the tablet?" They have thoroughly engrossed themselves in learning through these materials, and I have been able to put on many learning games. They know more about technology then I do some of the time! I have even seen the children turn on the camera by themselves and take a picture of our tadpoles (another donation from you this fall).
Through the iPads, my children are learning math and science, writing and reading. They are learning fine motor skills and technology skills. These skills will help them throughout their lives as they integrate technology into their learning.
We appreciate the donation - it has enhanced our classroom so much. I could never afford to put iPads into my classroom without help, and it has increased learning daily.”

Ms. Cathy
Reading With My Mom/Dad: A Backpack Of Fun
Funded Oct 9, 2010Thank you so much for your donations to my project. With your donations, I was able to add the home reading backpacks to my classroom. The home-school connection is so important to nourish in the early years; the love of reading is also as important to instill and nourish.
With your donations, the reading backpacks were added to my classroom, and I was able to start the home-lending process. The children look forward to taking the books home each week, and often ask if "today" is the day to take them home. The parents have enjoyed reading the books and doing the activities. Since starting the lending process, at least two parents have started enhancing their child's personal library.
Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. Your participation in my project has greatly enhanced both my children's learning and the important home-school connection.”

Ms. Cathy
Calling All Scientists: Frog Life on View
Funded Oct 19, 2010This is just a small expression of my thanks for your donations to my project. Without your donations, I would not have been able to get the aquarium for my classroom. An aquarium is an added feature in a preschool classroom, and not something deemed necessary for their education.
However, since the addition of the aquarium into my classroom, the children in my class have received so much more learning than they would have gotten without it. They have been able to observe the frogs live in their habitat; they have commented on changes in the frogs' growth; and they have observed the differences between the individual frogs. All of these observations have enhanced their learning in the classroom.
Again, thank you so much for your generous donations to my project. Your participation has greatly enhanced my children's educational experience.”

We Can Imagine: Enhancing Imagination in Prekindergarten
Funded Oct 23, 2009Thank you very much for your donations to my project. Due to your generosity, my students' learning is enhanced daily. Your donations added several multicultural costumes to my classroom, which the children love to wear daily as they pretend and act out scenarios. In addition, we received several books to add to our library, and some much needed art and journaling supplies. The art supplies have also been a big hit in my classroom, as the children love to paint and write every day.
As in many other urban districts, my district has budget shortcomings. Without your donations, I would not have been able to get these supplies, which have enhanced my students' learning immensely. Children's imaginations are so integral to their learning; they must imagine in order to think beyond their immediate boundaries. These costumes, books, and art supplies allow my children to imagine, grow, and learn.
Without donors like you, classrooms would go without these supplemental supplies, which have added greatly to my classroom. Thank you so much.”

Ms. Cathy
Wee Can Write: Writing in a Prekindergarten Classroom
Funded Oct 30, 2009Thank you very much for your donations to my project. Due to your generosity, my students' learning is enhanced daily. Your donations added a large whiteboard to my classroom, which we use daily for morning message, daily writing activities, and a multitude of other activities. In addition, we received a classroom set of small whiteboards and supplies, which the children love to use to practice their writing skills.
As in many other urban districts, my district has budget shortcomings. Without your donations, I would not have been able to get these supplies, which have enhanced my students' learning immensely. The acquisition of writing skills is so important in the preschool years, and the whiteboards allow my students to write, erase, and rewrite as much as they desire.
Without donors like you, classrooms would go without these supplemental supplies, which have added greatly to my classroom. Thank you so much.”
