Project Based Learning in Middle School
Funded Oct 31, 2024This has been an incredibly helpful and donation for our class. Students have used the air dry clay to create "artifacts." Kids have worked to create a cuneiform clay tablets and recreate Otzii artifacts. This provides an opportunity to for students to participate in hands on learning. They apply their learning. They get to have hands on learning
opportunities from your donations.
These activities are incredibly fun and hands on but can be incredibly messy. The cleaning supplies ensure that we can continue these activities. The clay falls to the ground and the best way to clean with the vacuum followed by the wet mop.
Your donation allows students to access the social studies curriculum in a fun, engaging way. I believe that the more interested children are in what they are learning, the more excited they will be, and they will be more successful. Your generous donation is directly affecting student success.”

Supplies for Middle School Class
Funded Dec 15, 2023Thank you so much for your very generous donation of supplies needed for middle school students. The very day that the package arrived the 6th graders eagerly used the materials. Glue sticks and scissors were broken out and used the same day for a class project. No student had to sit to wait to share a basic classroom supply. It saved time and allowed us to move through the period seamlessly.
Our students had a special middle school day and we utilized the construction paper right away for an arts and crafts special room day. We will be using the air dry clay for an upcoming project. All of this helps with hands on learning, engagement, and brining fun and joy to the classrooms without stress or fear of missing supplies.”

Save Students From a Lifetime of Back Pain!
Funded Sep 11, 2023First, I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations. I receive so many compliments on the classroom every time a visitor walks into the room.
Students' books and notebooks are now off the floor and in organized cubbies generously donated by you. When students first saw the cubbies they were so excited for me to put them together. We are so lucky to have these cubbies this year and for future classes.
The whiteboard has been an amazing addition to our classroom. It instantly brightens the room. Instead of a black, old, chalkboard, students see a bright white chalkboard that displays learning objectives and other important information. It is so much easier for students to read.
Finally we received a generous donation of air dry clay. We already used one 25 pound box to create artifacts for our social studies project. The students loved this project. It was made possible by your donation.”

Funded Sep 24, 2021The chart paper has been so helpful as a teacher and for the students. Teaching middle school in a pandemic has many challenges, one being that I, the teacher travels from class to class while students remain in one room.
Having high quality chart paper with handles and sturdy backing makes traveling with so many supplies that much easier.
The students have enjoyed using the paper to work on math tasks such as number line activities and coordinate plane activities. Because the paper has a sticky side, they can post their charts in the classroom for their peers to see and evaluate.
With your help, I have been able to create math charts in all classrooms that students can reference to help them.”

Funded Oct 11, 2017Our new classroom furniture has been so helpful for us. The new table saves so much room compared to the old round table. Our classrooms are very small with 30-32 students so every single bit of space is utilized. The new kidney table is a welcomed piece of furniture that allows students to work side by side and with a teacher directly in front of them. The bookshelf has been crucial for the students. They received two new thick books and did not have room in their desks for the books. The bookshelf is a perfect place to store these books and help the students stay organized.
The students were so excited when they saw the materials (especially when they saw the table). They became more excited about the book shelf when they realized it was the perfect solution to too many books and not enough room in their desks.
Students often race to the new table so that they can work there with their partners. I have rearranged the room to make even better use of the space and will be able to teach now from different locations in the classroom, helping to keep the attention of all students. We greatly appreciate your donations and look forward to using our new furniture in partner and group work. We love the extra space this has given us.”

Funded Aug 10, 2016These professional development books have been instrumental in changing my pedagogy. When I received the books, I looked at my teachers manuals and my lessons to teach this year. When I look at my lesson, I think, "How can I teach this lesson differently? How can I change they way the students experience the lesson?" I look in the books I received for Donors Choose and find resources to help me meet my students' needs.
With the help of "Number Talks" the discourse around math has dramatically changed. Students are discussing numbers and operations while challenging and building upon their ideas. They are improving their ability to compose and decompose numbers, improving their number sense.
With the task book, I have students cooperatively working on a math task that can be seen in my photos. This task was to build number sense with multiples that support addition, multiplication, and division skills. The students had a great time working on this and didn't realize that this challenging activity was really an activity that promoted higher order thinking, discourse, and teamwork!”
