Back to School Basics
Funded Sep 2, 2013When we received our Time for Kids publications, the students were super excited to hear about the topics they were about to delve into. My students look forward to every Thursday afternoon when we take on our weekly Times for Kids topic. My students enjoyed learning about the importance of Veterans Day and the holiday editions were just the best. All students are able contribute to the discussion. The students are gaining so much knowledge in social studies. I absolutely see the added value in using the magazines. Before these magazines we had black and white dittos which was wasn't the best resource. Because of you we now have the best. My students' and I are truly grateful.”

Help Us Stay Informed
Funded May 20, 2013I want to thank you again for your generous donation. The delivery of our weekly Scholastic News magazines has my students thrilled about learning. Its like a weekly field trip for my students.
The articles are current and pertinent to the interests and needs of my students. Every week Scholastic News brings students high-quality and fascinating science and social studies themes. This engaging content keeps my students engaged and practices their reading skills at the same time. Students are so excited every week when we open up the magazines for new topics. My students favorite issues were the topics on firefighters, the armed services and bats. Without these magazines my students would be using dittos or out dated material to access current world topics. You are keeping us current while improving my students reading skills and peeking their knowledge to become informed adults.”

Help Us Access The Future!
Funded May 4, 2013Thank you once again for your financial support in supporting our undeserved youth. The desktop computer we received has had a significant impact in my students lives. Students now have access to the computer once a week for 30-45 minutes. Students can type the final draft of their writing for publishing, others are assigned to specially designed phonics and math programs based on their specific needs. They also create cards for their classmates thanking them for being a good friend. I have seen all of my scholars improve on academic skills because of the opportunities that are given to them using our classroom computer. Your generosity will never be forgotten and the skills my students are acquiring are lifelong.”

Y.E.S. Kids Can SKYPE!
Funded May 10, 2012I want to send a heartfelt thank you again for your generosity. The school year started over 5 weeks ago and we have hit the ground running. The New I-pad has been a tremendous tool in our classroom. We have already used it to Skype to a first grade class in Houston, Texas. My students' were thrilled to share a discussion about school rules with their peers from another state. We also had the privilege to take a virtual field trip to a doctors office and spoke with a pediatrician from one of our local hospitals about staying healthy and keeping fit. My students look forward to the opportunity to Skype with others. Due to the drastic reduction in our school's budget, there are limited funds for actual field trips. This has been our opportunity to escape the confines of our school campus and take our educational curiosities abroad.
Without your kindness this would have never been possible.”
