  • Alternative Seating Keeps Kids Focused

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom goal of providing alternative seating to my students. Your donation has already made a visible impact on many of my students on such a critical point in their year. Many of my students genuinely have hard time remaining focused throughout the day sitting in traditional hard classroom desks and chairs. The bean bags have provided a seating option that is very similar to what they are culturally comfortable with along with allowing students to feel less guarded with their work. I have seen that my students are more likely to discuss their work and how to improve when they are allowed to sit in a more relaxed environment.

The seating is not only making them feel physically comfortable but comfortable enough to improve themselves academically!”

  • Dell Chromebooks for Future Tech Skills

    Funded May 20, 2018

Thank you so much for the generous donation of Chrome Books to my classroom. These Chrome Books truly supported my classroom goal of ensuring that all of my students especially my immigrant population develops the skills to navigate the 21st century. My students were so grateful to have access to new working Chrome Books that allowed them to access classroom materials online. This truly supported their ability to prep for their regents exam this year. They were able to access a variety of supports including fun and engaging online learning review games. My students are excited to have enough computers to use for the remainder of this school year and for years to come!”

  • My Kids Deserve a Warm Space and Hands-on Engagement

    Funded May 8, 2018

The hands on engagement has begun! As the school year has begun to wrap up we have been experimenting with the Breakout EDU kits to develop ideas for future lessons. When I told students that the Breakout EDU kits were funded they began glowing with excitement. The kits create excitement and engagement in the classroom. Students are able to engage with a variety of challenging primary and secondary sources without realizing that they are building academic skills and community/ team building skills.

We are so excited to continue using the kits throughout the years! I am excited to develop lessons round the kits!!!”

  • A Space to Build School-Wide Tolerance Initiatives & Restorative Justice

    Funded Dec 29, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your donations are helping to create a space to build restorative justice practices and tolerance into our school and classroom communities. Bean bags may seem simple but they are used as a platform to create great change. They are being used in a space were students can put their guards down and real conversations can grow. My students are using them as a safe relaxing place to discuss restorative justice practices, re-build themselves and build our community into a safe community space.

    Thank you for your support!”

  • Transportation & Academic Opportunities Lead to a Future of Success

    Funded Mar 16, 2018

Thank you for your amazing donations to our college trip bus fund! Without you, my amazing students wouldn't of had the opportunity to experience all of the opportunities that the world has to offer. These trips may seem simple but they are tremendously impactful to students who have never ventured beyond their neighborhood or their small village in Yemen. It is one thing to talk about the opportunities that college can bring and it is another thing to bring kids to the college themselves.

Students were amazed by the academic programs, the college facilities as well as the beautiful landscape of upstate New York. The students are now buzzing about what their life will be life in the years ahead.

    Thank you!”

  • Documenting the Immigrant Experience Through the Eyes of a Student

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for supporting my goal of giving my students a voice in the classroom and outside world. My students are valuable, beautiful humans with amazing stories to share with the world. I am fortunate to work with such a great group of kids that really inspire me daily with their stories of immigration, triumph and simple pure humanity. We are now able to share them with the world due to your generosity.

We are hoping to work on smaller projects for the school this year and work on larger longer projects next year. We hope to start working on personal documentaries at the beginning of the next school year.

Thank you again for your support!”

  • Test Prep Material for College Entry Success

    Funded Sep 28, 2017

Thank you so much for giving access to SAT prep to my students. This access will truly enable them to open doorways to college and a bright future that they may not of had without your support.

When I told my group of students that they will now have access to extra SAT prep they were ecstatic! I laughed at them because I have never seen them so excited about having extra work! Students have jumped right into their extra study prep knowing that your donation was a huge opportunity for them to take advantage of!”

  • DNA Ancestry Kits Allow for History to Become the Present

    Funded Jul 10, 2017

I cannot tell you how excited my students are about these DNA kits! The hallways are buzzing! As a school we will be using these DNA kits to create a cross- curricular project to study DNA and ancestry.

Students are going to be examining DNA and ancestry through the lens of a variety of disciplines within the school. They will be studying the Neanderthal variant in science class, studying the break down of DNA in chemistry, reading poetry about identity in their ESL and English classes as well as examining data on ancestry and DNA analysis in their history classes. Some students will be fortunate enough to be able to use these kits to examine their own DNA and ancestry.

Thank you again for this huge learning opportunity!”

  • Team Sports Make For Healthy Minds

    Funded Aug 5, 2017

I can't thank you enough for supporting my students and their fitness goals this year. As a small public school in Brooklyn we have very limited outdoor space but the equipment that you provided will enable my students to play sports and exercise just like other kids with better equip spaces.

The sports equipment is already being put to good use. The students use the equipment in their physical education class as well as during their lunch. My students were especially fond of the basketballs and the soccer balls. There is always an impromptu game up and running with a diverse group of kids! Without your support this couldn't of happened!

    Thank you again!”
