  • Threading Feelings: Nurturing Sel Through Crochet and Sewing.

    Funded Feb 8, 2024

Thank you so much for the supply donations that supported Conte's SEL initiative. My students were so excited to open up the packages of yarn, books, and embroidery supplies.

We created a cozy corner in the art room so students could take relaxing time to learn crochet, stitch and embroidery. It has truly been a transformative addition to the classroom.

Students that have learned how to crochet will now be teaching their classmates. I am looking forward to the collaboration and positive peer interactions this will create.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Anderson

  • Little Artists Need Art Supplies!

    Funded Dec 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my little artist with new art supplies. Your donation allowed my students to experience new ways of expressing their creativity beyond the old markers, crayons and printer paper that they have had to work with previously.

I have used the new sculpture materials to make creative stations in my classroom allowing students to choose a project and work collaboratively with their peers to make it. This has benefited my students in so many ways beyond the final product that they make. This experience facilitates problem solving, planning, collaboration, and fosters communications skills. They love the building stations and I can't thank you enough for making this possible.

My students were so overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement when the art materials arrived. We went through the packages together. I had planed projects to teach them with these new art supplies, such as mixing tints and shades to create value with tempera paint but after my students saw the new materials they came up with so many of their own ideas! The rest of the school year will be filled with creativity thanks to your generosity and support.”

  • The Art of Nature

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project, The Art of Nature. My students are incredibly grateful to have new art supplies that will be portable so they can create art inspired by our School Yard Habitat.

Although we are waiting for the weather to get warmer for the flowers to start to bloom, my students have been practicing with their new art materials indoors by drawing and painting my classroom plants. They love the watercolor markers and Kwick Stix so much and are experimenting with various techniques so that once the weather allows us to have art outdoors, they will be nature drawing experts.

Your generous donation has allowed my students to not only receive wonderful art supplies to create art outdoors, but it has also inspired them to give back kindness to others. It has been wonderful to watch them think about ways that they can spread kindness and generosity to others so that they can feel special, just like you have made them feel special.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Anderson

My students love art. They have learned about many artists inspired by nature such as Van Gogh, Monet and O'Keeffe. We have done lessons inspired by these artists but they have been done in my classroom using photographs as inspiration. Our school is lucky enough to have a school yard habitat filled with native plants for our students to learn about. I would love to get my students outside to sit in the habitat and create art in nature. We currently do not have the proper art supplies to feasibly allow me to take classes outside to create art. The transportable art materials will allow my students to create works of art by observing the plants in our school yard habitat then using their finished artwork to promote the importance of taking care of the environment. Unfortunately, not all of my students live in a safe enough area to be able to create art outdoors near their homes. Many of them do not live near an area where they can appreciate nature. I feel it is vital that they are given that opportunity at school. I would love to give my students the experience of sitting in our School Yard Habitat, while peacefully observing the plants and finding the joy of creating art from the beauty that they see. This project is intended to not only allow my students to create beautiful works of art, but is also intended to further connect my students to nature and nurture their desire to protect nature and to use their art to teach others about the importance of taking care of the environment.
