In our autism program at Royal Palm, we have students that are on the low and high ends of the spectrum. This funding we are in search and need of cannot be provided by the district. All of these classrooms need visual supports. For example, we use a lot of "First & Then" meaning first you do this and then you earn that. Some visual supports include stand up, stay in line, emotions, a picture schedule for the day (some of these students can't read) and so forth. They require sensory supports such as a fitness ball. Chairs without backs to help with core and back strength. These are little things in our world but, make a difference in theirs.
