Terrific Tools for Literacy
Funded Aug 17, 2021It was an exciting day for the class, and me, when our boxes arrived! They couldn't wait to see what we had gotten! I pulled out the stamps, the ten frames and magnetic counters for tap, map, and zap phonics, and word match cards. They looked a little puzzled by the books, but grinned as they saw my excitement at my new reading I would get to do!
Soon we began using the materials. I have included ideas from the books in my lessons to enhance my instruction, and continue to learn from them about how I can improve as a teacher. The students have absolutely loved the stamps - they are so engaged using them and are really growing in their ability to sound our words. We are just beginning to use the digraph and blend matching cards due to where we are in our scope and sequence, but I know those will be enjoyed too. Finally - the tap it, map it, zap it materials have been pure magic! My most reluctant students race to spell their words knowing they will get to read and zap up the sounds!
I am so grateful for your support in providing these materials!”

Funded Sep 15, 2010Thank you so much for your generous donation to buy the nice binders for my class to use as calendar books. They absolutely love their calendar books! When so deeply and passionately engaged, I know their learning is so much better.
In their calendar books, we fill out a monthly calendar sheet, write the number of days in school, and tally birthdays and lost teeth. We graph the weather, and have a different sheet every few weeks to practice a math skill. For example, we are reviewing more than and less than in our calendar books right now.
Having calendar books reinforces the structure and order of the daily calendar routine and makes each student accountable for following along and knowing all the information we practice. It is fantastic, and the binders are so well made and durable that I know they will last for years.
Thank you again and God bless you.”

Mrs. Cobb
