"Creativity helps us fight off the monotony of everyday life!" -Simón Silva “As an artist, I had the desire to bring about a renewed interest and respect for the arts for everyone regardless of race, gender, or social status. My desire was to help individuals understand the importance of the arts and what the arts are able to offer us. I knew that the arts carried the key to creating change in people’s lives. Changes that can affect our society economically, socially, and creatively. A good example of this would be the fact that an entire generation of engineers were inspired to get us to the moon after viewing Saturday morning cartoons and Sci-fi movies.” "There's a big difference in being creative and being talented: a creative person shows us something new, a different way of looking at things. A talented person shows us things exactly as they appear." Excerpt From: Silva, Simón. “Cultivate A Creative Mind.” Mr. Silva is an artist and personal friend that has inspired me to teach my students to be creative through artful learning. My project's emphasis will be on art centers that inspire creativity with various mediums. For example, water color paint, and a variety of color pencils, pastels, and paint brushes. Also, we need heavy duty construction paper which is an essential piece of material to express students' creativity in every content area. Something important to consider is that most of these materials are very durable and can last for a very long time.
