  • Sneeze, Achooooooo!

    Funded Oct 8, 2024

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our class project! Many of my students have allergies, as I write this, a young lady is sneezing in my classroom. I really like having tissue in my classroom, so student are not leaving during math lessons or practice to blow their nose.

When they leave the class to blow their nose, they are gone between 5-10 minutes depending on where they are on campus. To me this is unacceptable. So, from the deepest part of my heart, thank you so much for giving us the supplies we need, to keep students in my classroom. We truly appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

  • Making Algebra Notes Fun and Colorful

    Funded Jun 21, 2024

Thank you so much for donating notebooks and colorful pens to my classroom. The students write math problems in their notebooks as examples they can use when they are taking a test. They make them bright and colorful, so math notes become fun. Students love taking notes, but we all know how important of a skill that is.

These notebooks are not only helping the students with having the supplies they need for math class, but they are also learning organizational skills, note taking, and main idea and details.

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Girl, Go Wash Your Face!

    Funded Dec 19, 2019

Unfortunately due to Covid, we were unable to complete this project. The girls that were going to read this book as a group graduated by the time we came back on campus, and the new principal did not want us reading this book. I ended up donating them to a local library that was very happy to receive such a popular book.

Thank you for your donations, we were very excited that the project was fully funded at the time and sad that we didn't get to use them.

thank you for your donations. We appreciate you thinking of us and wanting to support our projects.”

    With gratitude,

  • Lets Make Our Algebra Notes Fun and Colorful!

    Funded Aug 11, 2023

Thank you for donating notebooks and colorful pens to our classroom! I used to require students to get a notebook for the class, but not all students have extra money for supplies, and I wanted to make my classroom equitable for everyone.

They were very happy when I passed out brand new notebooks that they could use and keep. It relieved a lot of them to not have have to ask their families for more supplies at the beginning of the year.

When they saw there was colorful pens to write with, they were beyond excited, since the colorful markers are usually for the teachers to us.

Thank you so much for your donations!”

  • Help Us Build Community

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

Playing games brings students together and helps them get to know each other in a non threatening way. We decided to start a Chess club on Tuesdays at lunch! We had our first meeting last week, and hoping for a better turn out next week, and the weeks to come.

Having something fun to do gives students something to look forward to, and a space to meet like minded friends.

Community is important so that kids stay out of trouble. It gives them something to do and someone to check in with that is not necessarily their teacher.

We are thankful for our supplies.”

  • Journal Writing Changed My Mind Set

    Funded Oct 29, 2019

thank you for donating journals to the classroom. It helps students focus their daily to dos, things plaguing their young minds. It helps them focus because they write out what is most important to complete for that day, which is hard for many young adults.

Focus on what needs to be done daily helps over time, because small daily tasks add up fast to make a huge impact overall in our daily lives. This is a skill that they can take in to their adult lives to help them be successful.

Teaching the students skills that can lead to a successful adult life is my goal, and I'm glad they were able to use these journals to start that new skill.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wysong

  • Achooooo, (sneeze)

    Funded Dec 17, 2022

Thank you so much for donating tissue. The students have terrible allergies and colds, an come to school snotty. Even though they are in high school, they don't have the supplies they need to take care of their health needs during school.

the school I work at does not supply Kleenex to the campus unfortunately. So if our classroom needs this supply, we need to buy it out of pocket or ask for donations. It is hard on our families to continually donate to the school. Some of the families want to donate and are unable to.

My students were shocked and happy to know they had tissue to use in our classroom. They are used to having to use scratchy paper towels or tissue paper squares from the restrooms.

As an Algebra and study skills teacher, I want my students engaged and learning as much as possible, Sending them to the bathroom to get tissue for their nose, is a constant distraction, and you helped solve this for us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wysong

  • Let Us Hear!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for donating headphones to our classroom. We are 1:1 chrome books to work on assignments, assessments and projects, and its nice to be able to hear what I am working on, without interfering with other students learning.

Its nice to have quality headphones that are comfortable to wear, for a long 86 minute class, that keeps the sound to me, and isn't needing to be replaced often because of high student use.

My boys are really happy to have high quality headphones that can be used and know that they will work every time they use them. It makes completing their tasks more enjoyable.”

Our school is comprised of students who come from all areas in Long Beach/Lakewood. The students I work with struggle to stay in general education. They are Resource kids, and all have Individual Education Plans (IEP's). I provide most supplies for learning in our room. They love me, and I do love them!
