6th Grade Extras
Funded Jul 25, 2022Transforming my new classroom from a dark, unwelcoming crypt into an bright, creativity provoking place to develop and learn has made a world of difference for both myself and my students. The classroom is filled with colorful anchor charts to help reenforce learning, organization materials to help students establish executive functioning skills and aesthetic decor to assist in giving students with histories of severe trauma the ability to learn in a calming environment.
Teaching at a new school, in a new grade level can be emotionally and financially overwhelming. With all of your generous donations that transition was so much easier. My students are so well equipped with grade level texts, supplies and interactive materials- all thanks to you!
Throughout the year we will utilize all of our materials, as well as embrace our cleaner, brighter space. It is important to take pride in where you live and work. This change has helped my students see that. When students from other homewrooms walk by our classroom they come in and voice their jealousy! Teachers also comment on how efficiently functional- practical, yet 'lived in' our classroom is.”
With gratitude,

Books Inspire, Encourage and Motivate!
Funded Sep 17, 2016Dear Generous Donors,
The words in this letter, nor the photos I will be posting will be able to describe the the look on my students; faces when they saw the four giant Amazon boxes being to delivered to our classroom. I won't be able to describe the pride they took in showing their parents all of their new classroom sets during open house. One student even took a pamphlet I printed from the donorschoose.org website for open house and translated it into Spanish for me so that "other parents could see how cool this is!" These are just the little impacts of what your donation has done- and we haven't even gotten through the first book yet!
Let me tell you a little bit about what reading looks like in my classroom. We have reading groups where students rotate throughout the classroom for two fifteen minute blocks in homogeneous groupings. They are reading, working on spelling, phonics, vocabulary etc. Then we have a whole class reading block. This is where your donations come in!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gallagher
