  • Education During a Pandemic

    Funded Oct 29, 2020

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, as we shifted to a virtual learning environment, the impact of the donated headphones, printer paper, and pens on my 7th-grade special education math students has been profound. The headphones have allowed students to isolate audio input, creating a personal learning environment free from potential household distractions. This has been paramount in keeping them focused during live online math lessons and interactive digital activities. Meanwhile, printer paper and pens have served as essential tools for our students to practice math problems at home, encouraging kinesthetic learning, which is often neglected in virtual education. They have been able to physically write out and solve problems, aiding comprehension and retention of math skills. As a teacher, these resources have enabled me to maintain a semblance of normalcy and continuity in instruction, despite the physical distance. The combined effect of these tools has made virtual teaching more feasible and effective while ensuring that each student continues to receive the individualized attention and support they require during these trying times.”

  • Everyone Learns at Thier Own Pace

    Funded Sep 7, 2018

    Dear Generous Donors,

I am writing to express my gratitude for your generous donations to our 7th-grade special education math class. The new headphones, printer paper, and pens have greatly improved the learning environment and have been enthusiastically welcomed by all our students. The headphones are particularly beneficial, providing an individualized learning experience that caters to our special education needs, allowing for more focused instruction and limiting distractions. Meanwhile, paper and pens have fueled the creativity and learning of our students, making classroom tasks more engaging and enjoyable.

The impact of your kindness is seen daily in our students' smiles and increased engagement. These materials have provided a more enriching and inclusive learning experience, especially in a subject that often poses significant challenges for our pupils. Your generous donation of printer paper has also been a massive help in providing printed materials for the students. This has enhanced their learning experience and offered essential resources that are so often taken for granted.

In conclusion, your generous donations have not just provided materials; they have empowered a particular group of learners to explore the fascinating world of math in a more comfortable and inviting environment. We sincerely thank you for supporting our mission of inclusivity and investing in these remarkable students' education. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps to make a significant difference in our classroom. We remain grateful and look forward to updating you on the continued progress of our students.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Cantos, Hermes”

  • Learning to Learn

    Funded Oct 31, 2017

What a journey it has been with my students and the technology they were gifted. The headphones are in use daily in my classroom. The students are growing so much from the individual learning on the Chromebooks. I am now able to help my English Language Learners with videos in their native language. Before the lesson, the students can listen to the translations on the headphones. The items were a large part of my student's learning experience, but also the donation itself. Student's are now aware of the people who know education is crucial to a better world. The students understand now how others can pitch in to help, even if it is a small donation. Everything counts. Thank you for being the foundation of change.”

    With gratitude,

  • Need Special Items for Special Needs

    Funded Jan 20, 2017

I first want to thank all of you for giving back and helping my students achieve greatness. The supplies purchased for my students have made an enormous impact towards their learning. My students were excited to know about the supplies and how they were obtained.

The headphones are the perfect addition to my 'flipped classroom. Students are now able to work at their own pace by watching the video lessons I create for them. As they watch the video they can ask for help from me or any other adult in the room. The students are no long afraid to ask for help and they do not feel like they are falling behind.

Thank you again for all the support. Teaching is a career that demands so much, and I know I have the support to help me and my students achieve their dreams.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cantos

  • Starting Fresh

    Funded Jul 5, 2016

The start of the school year has been amazing! My students have been using each resource since school started. All my students are now fully supplied with books and pencils until the end of the year. The composition notebooks have been utilized as the student's main notebook when taking notes. Although they may seem plain, I was able to help students decorate them with the crayons provided.

Students do not have to worry about their classroom being plain and boring. With all the color paper I was able to print and laminate charts and study guides. On their desk they have charts to assist them with math and English work. Students also have a special area for pencils. They never run out of pencils during math class!

I am able to set up stations in my class during math. The students each have a set of tools to use during math activities. The rulers are being used to help students draw concepts and keep organized. Student use the tape to put worksheets and other papers in their notebooks.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cantos

  • Classroom of Acceptance, Because Everyone Deserves to Learn.

    Funded Feb 2, 2016

I want to thank everyone for their donation. The headphones have made a difference in the way learning is occurring in the class room. My students are able to watch different educational videos without loosing focus due to noise. The lamination has proved effective when the students need to reference math concepts. Each student in my classroom expresses their thanks by earning better grades. They understand where the gifts came from and how special the detonators are. One student has used the headphones to complete online lessons and has finished over 40 lessons.”

  • Supplies for Students with Special Needs

    Funded Sep 15, 2015

I want to thank all who made a contribution to my project. The supplies purchased are not going to waste and are being used everyday. My students use the small whiteboards on a daily basis. During math class my students express their love of the whiteboards because it gives them an opportunity to quickly fix mistakes and see how other students got their answer. The whiteboards allows me to view the student's answers and help those that did not understand.

This year I implemented a system for pencils in my classroom. Each student received 5 pencils, an eraser and a pouch to hold it in. At the end of the week I check the pouch and award prizes to the students who have 5 pencils and the eraser. The students in both classes are developing responsibility. With your donations I am able to give the students a prize of a nice pencil from marvel or a special color dry-erase marker for their whiteboard. Students look forward to hand in their pouches and Pencils are no longer being wasted or lost.

Using the fidget pencil top has given a distraction for students who cannot control their constant need for movement. My students are grateful and so am I. I want to thank you all for helping me educate the world with one student at a time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cantos
