What's a Concert Without Concert Tickets?!
Funded Sep 8, 2017Thank you for donating the colored paper and paper cutter to our school; we desperately needed it! I have cut the concert tickets by hand in the past and it was not an enjoyable experience to cut 500 concert tickets! The colored paper helps to give an individual touch to each event we host at the school. I often pair a nice color with a small image to describe the event that the ticket is being bought for. My students are great musicians and I want nothing but the best for them and you helped make that possible and for that I say THANK YOU!”

Paper is KEY in this Music Class
Funded Dec 31, 2016Thank you for contributing all this paper to our classroom! We were in desperate need of it and I cannot express to you what a blessing it has been. With this paper I have printed recommendation letters for students who want to participate in free summer music programs, I have printed music for my students to prepare for our February music concert, and have even had students print their own homework assignments because of broken down printers at home. Most importantly, I've been able to communicate with parents by printing information for our Spring music competition trip to Hershey Park and even letters regarding the purchase of tickets for our concert. Thank you for making ALL OF THIS possible. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by both myself and all of my students.”

Add Color to Our Composers: Printer Needed
Funded May 8, 2017Thank you for your generous donation of this new printer to our classroom. It has literally brought color back into our lives. My students present many projects to the class and to see Beethoven or Mozart in color in so much more memorable than seeing their faces in black and white. When we study instruments students are required to research instruments from all across the world and often times they are colorful and we lose that when printing in black and white. The students really love the new printer and take such good care of it. Thank you for making my students so happy.”

Learning Directly From Broadway Professionals!
Funded Feb 4, 2017This workshop was more than I could have ever imagined. Meeting with professional Broadway musicians and conductors was just incredible. I learned a lot about arranging music to meet the needs of my students in the ensemble. I also learned about conducting from the pit and how to cue singers in during important parts of the show. It was great to hear such sound advice from those who do it eight times a week. The experience is one that I will never forget and for you I truly have no words to express my gratitude.”

Marching Band With Style
Funded Feb 6, 2017Thank you for donating these valuable materials to our 8th grade marching band. My students love to perform but I hate seeing their uniforms in disarray when they arrive. These garment bags will help store them better and will teach my young adult students that caring for your items comes with properly preparing them too. Students often don't look for their performance attire until the night before and event and a marching band uniform must be dry cleaned and properly hung so no wrinkles appear. This will hopefully teach them a lifelong skill. Thank you for donating the hangers and garment bags to my students!”

Full STEAM Ahead: Musical Success!
Funded Dec 23, 2016Thank you for the garment steamers. I was so happy to see them show up during our rehearsal. These steamers will make us look professional on stage. Thank you for donating them to our school. We are practicing many hours after school to make sure we all remember our lines for The Little Mermaid. We are responsible for memorizing our lines but you went out of your way to make sure we look good too. Thank you for being so nice to us even though we have never met. I am very excited to perform in the show this year because I am an 8th grader and this will be my last show in this school before I go to high school. The garment steamers will make a lasting memory for me and the other students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Stavros Niarchos Foundation and 4 other donors. Can I Have a Reed Please?
Funded Feb 3, 2017Thank you for your generous donation of clarinet reeds to our band! I've taken photos of our 6th grade clarinetists preparing their reeds today for class. Each reed has a strength number which identifies how thick the piece of wood will be. As the reed gets stronger students need to use more forceful air to produce a sound on their clarinet. As beginners, these students start with size number 2 and gradually increase to a 3.5 by the time they're in 8th grade. We ran out of size 2 reeds and the students in our 6th grade band had no reeds to use unless they wanted to struggle with a size 3.5; many opted not to play. This problem was solved with your generous donation of new reeds! As you can see in the photos, my clarinetists are all smiles now, thanks to you!”

21st Century Technology for 21st Century Musicians
Funded Jan 3, 2017Thank you for your generous donation of a new Dell XPS Desktop computer. This item has brought beautiful smiles to the faces of my students. With this new technology my students will be able to do research on composers at a faster speed, complete essays with new word processor programs, and will be able to complete homework assignments if unable to do so at home. I cannot thank you enough for your contribution of this new computer. My students are from all over the borough of Brooklyn and some are fortunate enough to have computers and printers at home while others are not. Thank you for making this resource available to them.”

Custom Musicians Need Custom Folders
Funded Dec 2, 2016Thank you for generosity towards the super talented students in my Jazz Ensemble. As you can see in the photos, they were THRILLED to open the box and see their brand new custom folders. I didn't tell them they were funded so it would be a complete surprise. Thank you for bringing such beautiful smiles to my classroom and for showing them that kindness still does exist in the world today. You have inspired my students and have given them encouragement to put their best foot forward in the world. Thank you for making them feel so special.”

Ink Needed For High School Auditions
Funded Sep 20, 2016Thank you for donating to this very worthy cause. My students are most important to me and their success in the future they choose is at the root of my adoration for them. When I meet them in sixth grade, I know that it is a short three years before they leave me and move onto the next big steps of their lives.
This ink has allowed me to immediately e-print some of my students' high school audition music. I must admit that the students do procrastinate at times but this ink has allowed me to continue to support them to lead them to success.
Thank you!”

Ms. Pohl
