  • Student Centered Makeover

    Funded May 16, 2023

My students and I are loving our additional small group table and shelves for our classroom. Our table provides a place where students can cluster and work on small groups on needed skills and activities, while our shelves keep our classroom library, class notebooks, and data notebooks organized. When my students first got to my 4th grade class at the beginning of this month, they described the space as "organized" and "calm", which is what my project was all about!

With all of this, my classroom has much more collaborative space to work with students and teachers. There is still more work to be done. my next project will be adding flexible seating to the mix! Thank you again for your generosity and donations to our education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Holmes

  • Moving in Math!

    Funded Sep 7, 2020

My students were surprised to see new equipment coming into school during the "pandemic year", much less a whiteboard on wheels! We first began using the moving whiteboard to have class outside. This allowed us to be sufficiently spaced outdoors and be able to sing our Number Rock songs without mask restriction. Once our school opened up 5 days a week for all students. I used this whiteboard to move myself around the room, instead of having all students move to me. This was very helpful in keeping all 20 students in their own "safe zone" and limiting the need to clean surfaces after touching. Thanks to you, my small group math instruction was safe, while also being effective. I cannot thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Holmes

I have seen success in students who I have worked with independently or in a small group setting. However, this year, I will not be able to teach this way. Students also cannot move around the room while maintaining social distancing, so I will need to move to them. Facing many challenges returning to school in a hybrid model already, my students need more of 'me' than they ever have before. A mobile whiteboard would allow me to meet my students where they are in their learning, (figuratively and literally). During Instruction, I would use this whiteboard to move around the classroom and assist students individually.
