The light table and art supplies will be used to enhance many areas of play in our classroom. Children will use the light table and other manipulatives such as the Magna-Tiles, crystal building blocks, and the light table manipulative center with shapes, letters and numbers to make scientific discoveries. This will also be a great way to introduce colors, shapes, numbers and letters these are an important part of early childhood education. The impacts both art and the light table will bring to our classroom are huge. Students will learn different subjects such as math, science, language, and reading. The students will be able to combine these tools to express their unique perception of the world. Students can create new designs at the light table and use the art supplies to show their findings. Or students might develop a plan with the art supplies and create what they have made with the light table. In addition to the art supplies and light table I have asked for several books that will help foster a child's creativity and encourage them to try hard things. Students have the ability to learn foundational concepts in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math at a young age. Preschools and early intervention should nurture STEAM skills and concepts early on and build on them through ongoing opportunities for play and discussion. The light table and art supplies will help us nurture these concepts. Some of the skills children learn when engaging with STEAM concepts are transferable and useful across many aspects of their lives. It is my desire to introduce these concepts within the classroom. I hope to use the light table, art supplies, manipulatives, and books to introduce STEAM into the classroom and help our students explore through hands on experiences.
